"Black holes are places where ordinary gravity has become so extreme that it overwhelms all other forces in the Universe. Once inside, nothing can escape a black hole's gravity not even light."

The first astronomer who calculated the existence of black hole as the centre of the milky-way galaxy won a price, I think it was one million dollars. The nearest star that orbiting it runs like 20 millions km per hour or something.

Fascinating find.

Well, quantum mechanics makes it possible for particles to escape after all...

Has everyone watched The Fabric of the Cosmos?  It's a must see.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 ... and God divided the light from the darkness.

__________________________

In the beginning was a void...

sometimes I think perhaps we are the intruders... the light invades the dark... the void

and so sets up the opposing forces, one calling itself good and calling the other bad...

and to the void, shall we be returned one day?

Just some things I think about. Smile

Sometimes myths contain elements that by chance sound similar to what modern science has found out. The wonderful creation myth in Genesis even predates Judaism.

But all of this took 13.7 billion years, not six days. Besides, how do you define day before having a rotating planet.

I think myth, as you call it, is that knowing that we have inside of us that comes from the One who created us.

Yah that's right.I agree with Caringheart words...

Many people interpret the word myth as something that isn't true, like in "it's a myth that Germans have no sense of humor". But I meant myth as a symbolic narrative with a deeper meaning. Myths are different from historic events.

Hi Matt,
I wasn't disagreeing with you, just making a personal observation.  Myths have to come from somewhere.  ;-)

Yes, myths come from oral traditions and people who were looking for answers to the great many why questions.

This is the thing, that science actually doesn't understand completely. Very many questions remains unsolved. For example - what is on the other side of that black hole? Where that black matter goes, and from where it comes..?

Nemesis, black holes are not about black matter or dark matter. And you mean, what is beyond the event horizon, right? We can only speculate. Real matter photons compressed very densely. Black holes can suck in new matter coming too close to it. Black holes also evaporate because of quantum effects.

Black holes are imaginery concepts which emerged as the consequence of space-time concept put forward by Einstein which changed the paradigm of physical sciences under which existence of God is impossible. Now Einstein paradigm of physical sciences is virtual atheism at the physical level. Einstein's space-time concept has been shown to be incorrect and consequently openly challenged on the basis of published articles. Open challenge is on World Science Database & General Science Journal

When the word atheism creeps into "scientific" statements, it is very clear the statement has a hidden agenda.

Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people--Eleanor Roosevelt
This is a foolish statement as individuals (people) cause events and individuals give ideas. Discussion about ideas is possible with reference to the person who gives it.

Not necessarily, Mohammad Shafiq. We can discuss the ideas of ecology or secularism, for example, without linking these ideas to concrete persons. What Ms. Roosevelt meant was that it's more important to discuss general relativity than the peculiarities of Albert Einstein's daily life. Gossip about celebrities doesn't have much value.
