I appreciate that man, because he may be did not found a good place for praying, so he decided to pray on the cap, may ALLAH(SWT) give him the reward for his deeds!

Well, no great harm was done, but I still think self-display isn't a good idea. There are many ways to pray to God and rituals can vary.
