I've heard that the Classical Arabic term 'insun', which appears 65 times in the Qur'an, can mean both "man" (as opposed to "woman") and "human being" (regardless if man or woman).

Are there any verses in the Qur'an or other authoritative grounds that make it clear that the intended meaning of 'insun' is "human being" and applies to women too? Or is that ambiguous?
