As-Salaam alaikum,
In many passages of the Holy Qur'an, we have it stated that guidance descends on the heart. Diseases like envy and hatred also take root in the heart; while love is also experienced in the heart. And taqwa (consciousness of Allah Ta'ala and obedience to Him) are in the heart, where the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, pointed to his chest 3 times, as narrated by Bukhari, to indicate that the chest was place where taqwa resides. A thick curtain that blocks the light of Imaan (faith) in our heart(s) is sin... especially accumulated sins over a long period of time without repentance, which solidifies the heart till it is hard like rock. Allah Ta'ala says:-- "Then your hearts became hardened..being like a rock or even worse in hardness. For among rocks there are some from which rivers gush forth..(2:74) You might have met people who have no mercy in their hearts, especially tyrants and oppressors are like this. An easy way we can take to polish our heart is to practice ISTIGHFAR daily..by reciting astaghfirullah...astaghfirullah... at least 100 times in the morning and in the evening..And also engage in the recital of other forms of Zikr like: the Hamdala, the Tahleel, the Takbir, Tasbih, Qur'an recitation etc. Doing this along with regretting our sins, and resolving not to go back to committing sins will earn us Allah's Forgiveness. Sinning without repentance locks the heart. the one who is not purifying himself is in delusion. He/She is living in ghafla.. |
