Prayers for Deceased

   As-salaamu 'alaykum, in Bosnia and Herzegovina we have a
tradition of doing tawheed prayer (Yasin and other prayers) for the deceased
person when they pass, on the 7th, 40th day, and anniversaries. I have recently
read this is not in accordance with Islam, and I have read it is forbidden to
pay someone (imams and similar) to recite Qur’an duas for the deceased. Please
advise. Thank you.
