Islam and Christianity largely agree on righteousness, or the need to follow the will of God instead of self-will.

Christianity recognizes one's human nature (naifs?) will always conflict, and must be constantly corrected by repentance or fully realizing the offense/pain inflicted upon God and humanity by these transgressions (shirk?).

My question is: What is the Islamic expression of this requirement of Isa to repent?

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “By Him in whose hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allah would replace you with people who would sin and they would seek forgiveness from Allah and he would forgive them.”

Source: Muslim 2749

The gist of the matter is that what is incumbent for the Muslim, is to comply to obedience and refrain from disobedience inwardly and outwardly. What is required is to exert oneself and one’s capacity towards that, in accordance with the verse فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ “And fear Allah according to your capacity”.
