Salam,

How is Abu Lahab reaction to the prophet proclamation different than the prophet himself upon seeing an angel in the cave? He too thought he was crazy and losing his mind. This reaction is not unexpected. Even if I’m a real prophet and invite you and 30 other people to my house right now to give you this news, who won’t be angry and offended? The people demanded a miracle which the Quran states many times that he was just a messenger. He had knowledge of other text which is not surprising because as a intelligent person, he hated idolatry and certainly would Gabe been curious about the other faiths. His wife’s uncle was Christian and he traveled to Syria where there were more Jews and Christians and let’s not forget that Jews inhabited Medina. To say he was interested in the right faith but chose not to ask about the other faiths is strange. People would have naturally thought he got his knowledge from somewhere else. His could his wife’s uncle claim prophethood because he understood the other texts? What about the poetic Beaty of Quran? In history god gives gifts in art, music, sports, etc. having a knowledge of other faiths and being able to convey those concepts in poetry is not in itself miraculous. These idolaters reaction is no difffereht than how we would react if somebody claimed prophethood today. We can’t just accept everybody who claims to be debt by god. In fact, god doesn’t want us accept everybody. There was another person who claimed prophethood around the same time as muhammad. The last point is that how the prophet described his visions are similar to how a person with a psychiatric condition would describe them. The people are not shown miracles and the way the message is delivered seems similar to a person who has a psychiatric condition, exactly why were people supposed to believe? Even the companions didn’t all jist accept the faith.

The message speaks of its divine origin. The message did not glorify a nation or a human but glorified the creator of the universe and laid down the foundation of a society that is founded on justice for all at a time when slavery and racism were rampant.

Best Regards,
Aslam Abdullah
