Indeed, the believers, Jews, Christians, and Sabianswhoever truly believes in God and the Last Day and does good will have their reward with their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve (Q 2:62, 5:69)
Who are the Sabians in the Quran? There are several opinions regarding who are the Sabians in the Quran, from the star-worshippers, the followers of prophet Noah, Mandaeans, etc. In my opinion, the Sabians in the Quran is either the Mandaeans, the followers of prophet Noah (the Noahides), or the converts. Mandaeans is the followers of John the Baptist. But the Mandaens not only follow John the Baptist, but they also revere to Adam, Seth, Noah, Shem, etc. So you can say that the followers of John the Baptist is actually the follower of Noah since John the Baptist is also the follower of Noah. Wikipedia states: Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi (d. 786787 CE), who was in Basra before his death, wrote: "The Sabians believe they belong to the prophet Noah, they read Zabur, and their religion looks like Christianity." According to Judaism, God gave two kinds of Laws for mankind, the first is the Torah that is exclusive to the children of Israel, and the second is the Seven Laws of Noah that is for the rest of the world. They call the followers of the Seven Laws of Noah as the Noahides or bnai Noah. The seven laws of Noah are as follows: 1. Not to worship idols. 2. Not to curse God. 3. Not to commit murder. 4. Not to commit adultery or sexual immorality. 5. Not to steal. 6. Not to eat flesh torn or limb from a living animal. 7. To establish courts of justice. It is interesting to note that most of the Noahides today is the former Christians who convert to be a Noahide. So, if it's true that the Sabians in the Quran refers to the Noahides, you can also say that the Sabians are they who are converted. What do you think, brothers? Is it possible that the Sabian in the Quran actually is the Noahide? Edited by ovibos - 20 February 2018 at 9:11pm |

No. The Sabians were a small Arabian tribe who accepted only the zabur as scripture. They did not accept the torah, Qu'ran or gospel.
Noahide laws were what Islam might consider the shariah of the Prophet Noah. They were later more fully revealed by the prophet Moses into the ten commandments and other laws. Noahide refers to a historic period of the Hebrews, not a seperate population. Edited by DavidC - 21 February 2018 at 11:15am |
