Man cannot, under any circumstances, live without religion.

Just as man is social by nature and cannot live alone and be isolated from society, he is also innately devout and cannot live properly without religion. Religiousness is a natural instinct in man.

The clearest proof of this is that man flees to Allah Almighty when facing difficulties and hard times. Allah says: {And when they embark on a ship, they invoke Allh, making their Faith pure for Him only, but when He brings them safely to land, behold, they give a share of their worship to others}(Al-Ankabt: 65)

Jazakallahu Khairan. Excellent post.

Your post reminded me of another verse in the Qur'aan, considered by many as one of the greatest verses in the Holy Quraan (in terms of the powerful message it conveys, but also in terms of the power of the Arabic language):

Chapter (51) sūrat l-dhāriyāt (The Wind that Scatter)

[51:50] فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ

Sahih International: So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.

Pickthall: Therefor flee unto Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from him.

Yusuf Ali: Hasten ye then (at once) to Allah: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!

Shakir: Therefore fly to Allah, surely I am a plain warner to you from Him.

Muhammad Sarwar: (Muhammad), tell them,"Seek refuge in God. I have been sent from Him to plainly warn you.

Mohsin Khan: So flee to Allah (from His Torment to His Mercy Islamic Monotheism), verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am a plain warner to you from Him.

Arberry: Therefore flee unto God! I am a clear warner from Him to you.

Powerful because of the unusual use of the verb 'flee'. Powerful because when you fear something, somewhere or someone, then you normally flee away from them; except Allah SWT; the more you fear Him, the more you flee towards Him (by means of worship, obedience, praise, thikr...etc) .

This verse combines meanings of both fear and hope: fear of Allah and turning to Him, for there is no refuge from Him except in Him. The fact that no one offers refuge from Him except Him serves to tell His slaves that He is More Merciful than anyone else, and He wants to show mercy and forgive.

Scholars have said a great deal about this verse. Anyone who wants to find out more: just Google it!
