Link to current condition of the Musallah:
http://imgur.com/a/wwPd9#0 I'm currently a medical student in southern Saint Lucia in the West Indies at the International American University (IAU) and visited the musallah they have currently, as there is no Masjid. The condition was pretty horrendous on first glance. Now i've come to various Islamic forums and social media platforms in an attempt to garner support whether through sharing or direct aid. Part of the current problem is that they have a very worn down area to conduct prayers in. The roof is falling in and the prayer area is soggy and wet from rainfall seeping through. The placement of women is very close in proximity to the men and the only divider we currently use is comprised of pieces of cloth weaved together. This makes it hard for members of the congregation to actually listen to Khutbahs when given or to even pray in the musallah area. When they do it is out of necessity rather than wilingness. In contrast, the local churches around the mosque are in great condition and it leaves a lasting impression to those that come inside our mosque. Surprisingly, we do actually have a large conversion rate of 2-3 new muslims each month. The musallah area we currently have is not the best way to attract those to pray. They have covered the cost of the bathroom remodeling with a fully functioning sink and toilet thanks to the $2000 support they have received so far. The issue now at hand is the fact that the divider employed is of very low quality and the roof is as well. We also lack funding so much to the point where we have to write/teach the Quranic Alphabet on pieces of wood rather than parchment to cut costs. With an extra $1000 we would be able to fix the carpet floors from the wet residue around it, seal the roofing, and create a proper walled divider. This way we could attract more converts and those of the congregation would enjoy praying more. "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies his reward for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." 2:261 Thank you for taking the time to read this and I appreciate all the help we can get.
