The very idea of Islamic jurisprudence poses a threat to modern secular countries. It's people who make laws for people not God. Religious laws are no real laws. They are religious recommendations that can be followed by believers as long as they don't violate any real laws made by elected representatives.

I would argue that it is theology that will save modern societies from secularism. If modern secular countries would only live by one simple theological principle, that of, do unto others as you would have them do unto you the world would be a much safer place.

Greetings abuayisha,

I would have to ask...
Does... and can... islam live and rule by that principle?

Perhaps you mean; can Abuayisha live by that principle? I certainly try to do my best notwithstanding the inevitability of human failings.

I would argue that "do unto others..." is not limited to theological traditions. It's basis, the idea of reciprocity,is found in nearly every ethical tradition on the planet.
