Assalam Alaikum my sisters,

I am a muslim in my 20's and, like many of us, have come across numerous insincere people throughout my life. But,it seems now even with my constant prayers of thanks and forgiveness and hope for the future, Allah is still testing me by bringing me face to face with friends, family or work colleagues who are simply two faced, selfish and insincere.

I understand that God has put us on this earth to be tested and if HE stops testing us, it means HE has forgotten us, but I am slowly losing strength it seems. I am always going to have faith and I have always believed in being patient and trusting Allah and being strong because that is how a muslim is suppose to live. I also know that there are people on this Earth suffering in ways we can only begin to imagine.

My problem now is I feel that God is very angry with me for some reason andI dont know how I can continue this journey if, time and time again, I am faced with cold, insincere individuals. I dont know if I can trust anyone again. I feel as if I want to become numb to any emotion. If anyone has any words of wisdom or verses from the quran or hadith that could help me find strength, I would be most appreciative.
Thank you.

Assalamu alaikum Sister "guideasister",

I am so sorry you are feeling so down.  Perhaps you might find this very fine article helpful, I have found it to be so.  It is called "Tests for the Believers: Fluctuations of Life" and you can read it here:

http://www.islamonline.net/English/OnthePathofReturn/Article s/2005/04/01.shtml

I do hope that you can find some comfort in this article.  Always remember that Allah does answer the prayers of those who pray sincerely, we just sometimes do not immediately recognize the answer!

Peace, ummziba.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your words...they break my soul ~

Assalamu Alaikum sister,

You are in my prayers and I understand what you're saying. It's the
hardest thing when those you love turn their backs on you and betray
you. Dear sis, don't forget that Allah is Ar-RaHmaan and Ar-RaHeem. No
matter what happens in this life, Allah's love is always constant and
greater than any love than any being could ever possibly give you. Keep
strong and be proud of who you are.

fee Amanallh,
J.R.
Smile

Assalamu Alaikum

Thank you sisters ummziba and j.r. That article was immensely empowering and inspiring. Thank you very much and thank you for your prayers sister j.r. I've always felt that the greatest gift anyone can give another is a sincere prayer to Allah for them.
I am doing a little better and am reading more islamic books such as Great Women of Islam by Mahmood Ahmad Ghazanfar and of course The Holy Quran to find peace. It seems my heart is uneasy and I dont think I will ever be able to completely trust another, but pray this will change.
Thank you again. :)
