As'Salamu Alykum
I live in Pakistan and was born to the family who follows Ismaili path (sub-sect of Shia).I followed the Ismaili path till the age of 20, now I follow the Sunni path. I need an advice about my situation. I want to marry a girl who's also Sunni, we were in relation. I want to know that what will be my plus point as to convince her parents about me as my family still hold the Ismaili path?? AlHamdullilah, I can afford to live separate and can afford marriage. I'll be greatly thankful of anyone who answers me and give advice with reference of Quran and Sunnah. May Allah be merciful with all of us. Edited by rsuchwani - 25 May 2009 at 11:42pm |

The best way to convince them is through action. If you follow the Quran and the Sunnah, that should be enough.

What made you change? Did you change prior to meeting this Sunni girl? People often embrace a particular belief in order to curry favor for gaining a spouse, only to later decide or practice differently. If I were the girls father, this would be my concern. Can you honestly and truthfully articulate this was not the case? |

I've followed the Ismaili path till the age of 20, now I'm almost 29 yrs old. I've been practicing and following the Sunni path for quite some time now, in fact the girl whom I want to marry is my sole inspiration to ponder over the Sunni path. She, with her beliefs and guidance, became my inspiration and made me ask to myself that, what the meaning of true Muslim is? I've been asking the same question to myself since I've started to pray and recite Quran, but the truth and joy of prostrate made me clear. Edited by rsuchwani - 26 May 2009 at 10:12pm |
