Hi I am a new member wanting to learn more about Allah and Islam. I believe in the Old Testament God, I'm not sure what I believe about Jesus, I see God as merciful, forgiving, loving, gracious, but not as a punisher. I believe if you ask for forgiveness it is granted. That God loves me unconditionally, that I am special to Him. that He created the universe and everything in it. I am not sure about rules and statements that say if you don't believe this way or that way you will go to hell. I think god if more mericful than that. I welcome anyfeedback

Peace -
Welcome to forum (I am also somewhat new) - "Hi I am a new member wanting to learn more about Allah and Islam." I recommend reading the Quran above all, from start to finish - then the rest of the scriptures, Torah, Gospel, Psalms - then, as much of the hadith as you can. After that, a forum. But not in reverse order. Just my recommendation and, again, a welcome. God help us |

Hi senekerk, Welcome to the forum. You may ask questions about Islam in "Islam for non-Muslim" section or take part in interfaith dialogue in Interfaith section. There are many other sections here where you may take part as per your interest. Hope that your stay here would be a pleasant one. May Allah guide us all. Peace |

If the Bible, the torah have been altered WHAT version should I read as you suggested? I know what you say about the Bible is true-it has been altered. Is there a way for me to know exactly is altered? |

Peace,
For myself, I use http://www.biblegateway.com since it offers a wide selection of translations. Get a mp3 and follow along - since it's about a 50 hour read, the NT a 20 hour read, and depending on the speed of the language the Holy Quran is a 15 -20 hour read. Then it's on to the rest of the Muslim literature... (sidenote: Personally, I don't make too much of the altered/distortion/ corrupted text issue since it is mostly trotted out to imply that all Jews and Christians are following distorted texts, and so by proxy, distorted guidance.) If you are only reading the Quran in English - I suggest this multiple translation approach as well. I do recommend that you begin reading in Arabic as soon as possible - even on the most basic rhythmic levels, the Quran is untranslatable. I recommend listening to the specific sura while reading. God help us, |

ok i have a question here cos im so confused. all this time im here thinking that if u read the Quran, which is the final testament, that is sufficeint. u dont need to read the Torah, Gospel and psalms. most of the muslims i know read only the Quran. im not sure that they have read the others. i thought that the Quran was all encompassing. Does it mean that i now have to read the other 3 books? please advise as i am very concerned after reading this post |
