Assalamu alaikum! I'm a new member to the site though I've been coming to it for ages, it seems. Still I haven't read through the posting guidelines. I hope you'll forgive me. I normally would before posting but I received information about a protest rally scheduled for tomorrow and, being that it's such short notice, I wanted to try to post it. If it's not acceptable content for the forum or something of that nature of concerns, I understand that it would be pulled or not posted and I'm very sorry in that instance for any inconvenience it might cause the moderators. It's too rare in the U.S. that we stand in the streets with signs and say to our government and to others what we believe is right and what we believe must stop (of course, when it occurs the media rarely covers it.) I'm a pretty "normal" person, disgusted by the bloodshed and lost innocent lives, the constant humiliation and psychological torture Palestinians have been forced to endure and the irony of the condemnation received by those who do harm, in turn, because they're left with so few options in a life of indignity. The problem is that people in the US, by and large, don't have a clue what's going on or that what they see on t.v. every night happening in the Middle East has anything to do with America. They've been told lies, instructed how to interpret the events of 9/11 and systematically convinced that they're informed, free citizens of a country whose foreign policy serves what is right and good. Americans even think that we're the supporters of the underdog. Say Israel and all they think of is the Holocaust and to address the point would surely label me as anti-semetic. I don't think it's necessary to tell people what's right. They just need to know the details of all that's going on and has been going on for a long time. So, pointless though I might otherwise regard it to be, I'll be in Chicago tomorrow, protesting. The information follows, just in case there is anyone out there who might be nearby and so inclined: Salam! The following was received from the Palestine Solidarity |
