Bismillah, No. If it weren't allowed for the breast to show, women would never breastfeed in front of other women and children, but they do all over the Muslim communities. Think about it. This is the minimum, not the everyday house dress habits! She asked the minimum, and this is it. Funny, I was the Imam's wife for a few years, and I didn't know it counted for anything so serious as making my statements more valid. Salaamu Alaykum |

salaams I believe the awrah of the woman (for mahrams) is from above the breast to just below the knee..I could be mistaken but it was discussed in our group (women's) after Jummuah last week. It came from the Imam's wife. |

Awrah is the minimum covering during prayer and before non mahram. Herjihad- I wanted to point out that the awrah of men and women is not the same. {{The awrah of a man and a woman are the same, from the naval to the knee. Most people are more cautious than this culturally and wear shirts or full dresses most of the time.}} In the house, before mahrams too, modesty is recommended. Though women can uncover their head and wear shorter dresses. The rest I think is evident about the sleeping together and changing etc |

Bismillah, Not in the house, silly. This is the minimum clothing persons should wear at all times when not in conjugal relations with their spouse. Salaamu Alaykum

Assalaamu alaikum sis: Yes but when I have visited in the deep part of Mexico the family will usually have a sheet or blanket in the corner which is used as a dressing area. many families still have roped off area even when they live in one room, the married couples are usually sleeping in more private areas. Most families and cultures are very aware of the awrahs and dont run around naked in from of each other from Puberty and beyond. It is that way the Turkish culture as well, Muslim and Christian alike. They may have to sleep in the same areas, but they are dressed! |
