The Green Book is a book written by the Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi, first published in 1975, outlining his views on democracy and his political philosophy.

It consists of three parts:

The Solution of the Problem of Democracy: 'The Authority of the People'
The Solution of the Economic Problem: 'Socialism'
The Social Basis of the Third Universal Theory

The book is controversial because it completely rejects modern conceptions of liberal democracy and encourages the institution of a form of direct democracy based on popular committees. Critics charge that Qaddafi uses these committees as tools of autocratic political repression in practice.

There are several translations in English and several authorized and unauthorized editions by several publishers in several countries. An English translation is available from the Libyan government, and there are digital versions (see below) available.

The inherent problem with political ideologies is that all claim to work in favour of the people, but this deferrment of power leads to all these problems.

I used to have faith in the press-in that they could keep tabs on those who hold power.  However, it has become quite apparent that those who hold power can purchase media outlets and control them.

One of the great things about Islam, is that Islam does not encourage one political philosophy over another.  It gives people the liberty to design political systems which are current to the times.

Hundreds of years ago, monarchy appealed to people and other political systems may not have been appropriate for them.  Some people still want their lives ruled by a ask-no-questions king(George Bush).  Nowadays, monarchy are considered tyrannical and prone to corruption.

Yeah the Green Book IS good!!!!

his criticism against western "democrazy" were argued well...however i personally didnt understand all the aspects of how the "jamahariyah" works....

He is kind of leaning toward "socialism" and i think all these manmade ideologies tell 1/2 truths....it all goes back to islam...

the islamic government begins in the heart of the indivisual and if it is firmly rooted it will eminate to soceity and benifit society...

Bro Megatron u said Islam does not favor one system over the other....thats false...that is one of the lies that has been spread by the enemies of Islam throughout the ummah...

Islamic government is what islam favors...U should Read "ISlam and Revolution" (writings and speeches of Imam Khomeini)...good book...

Monarchy has never been islamic and goes against the principles of Islam
