As-Salaam alaikum,
Thanks for the observation above. Cross-checking the verses as you suggested, I found out that:

 (1) "Nothing is like Him"... is actually at last portion of ayat 11 in Surat Shura (42:11) not 42:10

(2)  "Allah warns you of His Self".. is actually at the last portion of ayat 28 of Surat Ali-Imran (3:28) not 3:27

As for providing you with the web-link of the quoted hadith, I am afraid I cannot....as I simply do not know it. You may, however, refer to Imam Suyuti's work al-Jami Sagir... You will find it there...or other reputable Hadith Sources.
Many Regards.

Please check: Are you sure that these numbers correspond to these verses?

Could you please post a weblink for this hadith? preferably the Arabic/original version?

As-Salaam alaikum,
In the Holy Qur'an, Allah Ta'ala says:--

     "Nothing is like Him" (42:10)

"Allah warns you of His Self" (3:27)

This indicates that when it comes to knowledge of Allah's Essence Reality (haqiqat al-dhat), that is prohibited. It cannot be known through logical proof or rational demonstration, nor can definition grasp it. For He- glory be to Him- is not similar to anything, nor is anything similar to Him.

So, how should he who is similar to things know Him to whom nothing is similar and who is similar to nothing?  So your knowledge of Him is only that "Nothing is similar to Him" (42:10) and "Allah warns you of His Self" (3:27)

Moreover, the Law has prohibited meditation upon the Essence of Allah, as in the Hadith:

"Meditate upon all things, but do not meditate upon
the Essence of Allah"; cited in 5 different versions in al-Suyuti, al-Jami al-Sagir.
