Today is the Islamic New Year's Day. It is 1st of Muharram 1440.

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic Calendar year, and one of the most important (spiritually speaking). Muslims from around the world are encouraged to increase acts of worship and acts of charity towards others during this month.

For example, it is recommended and very rewarding (but not compulsory) to fast the 10th day ('Ashura Day) of this month... and even better if you can fast the 9th or the 11th or both... as well as the 10th.

But why is the 10th day so important to us?
