The main thing to tell the children by parents is Islam and how the Muslims sacrifices their lives for the Islam and what hurdles they faced to keep the Islam alive. If the parents show carelessness regarding Islam, then they grow up to be whatever else but Islam. Tell them about the Oneness of Allah, prophets, angels, holy books and the Last Book Holy Quran and Last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Allah Says in Quran,

“And (recall) when Luqman said to his son when he was counseling him, O, my son! Join not in reverence others with Allah. Verily! Joining others in reverence with Allah is great Zulm (erroneous) definitely.” (Quran 31:13)

Rights of Parents

There is same responsibility allowed on the children to respect their parents and never shouted and misbehave with them. If they reach the old age then behave them with politely and respectfully because they used their life, to give you a better life. And where you are now, just because of their sacrifices. But, Allah Says in Surah Luqman,

“And We have ordered on a man (to be obedient and decent) to his parents. His mother carried him, (growing her) in dimness upon weakness, and his deterring is in two years. Be thankful to Me and to your parents, to Me is the (last) journey's end.” (Quran 31:14)

Offer the Prayers Regularly

Tell your kids to offer the prayers in five times a day regularly and direct them to the right path of Oneness of Allah. Salah is compulsory for them because Allah will ask the first question about Salah on the Day of Judgment. For the Muslims, Salah is the gift because it avoids from the wrongdoings and sins. Allah Says in Surah Luqman,
