I read through book 15 of Bukhari before I gave up. It is often repetitive and trivial, but there are some interesting parts I wish I had bookmarked.

My recommendation is to start with muslim scholar Martin Ling's biography of Muhummad. It is all taken from Hadith and carefully footnoted, but is contextualized as a biography and is simply a wonderful read. You can look up the primary sources for Ling's statements in the hadith fairly easily and go straight to the interesting stuff.

But the Hadith are free online so do your best and you will get a feel for the style, etc.

As-salaamu alaikum! First post, so sorry if I put this in the wrong place! I'm the sort to find religion in general extremely interesting, but I'm particularly fond of studying Islam. I have a Quran and have learned a lot online, but it seems like a lot of important information comes from ahadith. (Another apology if I'm butchering Arabic - I want to learn it, but I'm notoriously bad at it!)

Is there a book that contains all the big ones, since I'm under the impression that there are a LOT out there? I could look online as I've been doing, but I can be kind of a bookshelf snob. Are some more accepted than others, like gospels were in the early Church? I'd hate to buy books at random and find out they're the wrong ones.

I think ahadith are the biggest source of confusion for me right now because of the sheer volume, and because I can't seem to find them all in one place. Jazakallah khair whoever can help!
