This doesn't explain how people were coming "from every quarter, near and far", "when the pilgrimage was proclaimed".

The pilgrimage was proclaimed by Abraham. People did not come to him "from every quarter, near and far". They came maybe from all over Arabia. There are many more locations than just from all over Arabia.

This is another classical example of your petty lingering on the topic. No intellectual argument at all. Sometimes its really ok to take advice / guidance from fellow thinkers than foolishly pressing on an argument. Ask your mentor, Mr Ron Webb. Hopefully you will be rightly guided accordingly, here as well.

Each tafsir that is quoted says something else.

Perhaps I misunderstood the verse and it doesn't say that people came to Abraham from every location in the world, and riding on every mounted animal.

Perhaps "every location here and far" refers to every location around Mecca, and "every camel" refers to every available mount, and Abraham announced the pilgrimage to only the Arabs.

If that is the case, there is no error and I take back my assertion of a mistake in the verse.

It would however be an interesting question as to why when God appointed "the First House of Worship" for humanity, the only ones who knew about it for some 2,000 years if not more were the Arabs, but I guess that was God's choice.

Verily, the first House (of worship) appointed for mankind was that at Bakkah (Makkah), full of blessing, and a guidance for Al-'Alamin (mankind and jinn).

Nice discussing with you, take care.

The "lean camel" coming after a fatiguing journey through distant mountain roads typifies the difficulties of travel, which Pilgrims disregard on account of the temporal and spiritual benefits referred to in the next verse.

Funnily enough, this interpretation also gives a timeline, stating when the pilgrimage was proclaimed, which would disqualify it from being a prophecy of the future.

When it was proclaimed, people allegedly came to it from every quarter, near and far I doubt they truly came from every quarter, near and far. The world is bigger than Arabia.

What do you think "every animal imaginable " means?

All or any type of means of travel/communication, imaginable.

So according to the tafsir, God in the Quran said to Abraham that people will come to him via "any type of means of travel/communication, imaginable".
Do you agree with this interpretation?
