Being Heedless about the Blessed Days of Dhul Hijjah:
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “There are no ten days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days (meaning the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah) They said: Not even striving in the cause of Allah? He said: Not even striving in the cause of Allah, unless a man goes out with himself and his wealth and does not bring anything back.” [Bukhari] Sheikh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (Ra) said: "Righteous actions, including fasting, in the (first) ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah are more beloved to Allāh than righteous actions in the last ten days of Ramaḍān. Yet the people are heedless of the ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. They pass and the people are upon their normal ways. You find no increase in reading the Qur'ān or other types of worship, rather some of them are even stingy with the Takbīr." [الشرح الممتع ٤٧٠/٦] Therefore how can we afford to be heedless and negligent of such blessed days that are better than any other day of the year including the days of Ramadan? Surely we do not want to be of the utterly regretful in the Hereafter when we realise that we missed out on immense rewards that would have benefitted us forever, but instead we wasted this valuable time on fruitless pursuits. So we must grab this most valuable opportunity with both hands and realise that nothing else right now matters more than worshipping Allah and pleasing him the most during these blessed days. So let us put aside any distractions at least until Eid, and focus on maximising these blessed days that are only short in number and will soon be over. |

So blessed are the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah that Allah swears by these 10 days in Surah Fajr: By the Dawn; By the ten Nights (89:1-2) The Prophet (Sallahu Alaihi Wassalam) has said regarding these Blessed days: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these 10 days...(Al-Bukhari) Many scholars say that the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are more superior than the days of Ramadan. It is clear that these 10 days & night possess tremendous blessings and excellence. So we should spend these 10 days & nights in intensive worship & virtuous acts. The following are the confirmed dates of the blessed 10 days and nights of Dhul Hijjah 2015: The first of the 10 nights of Dhul Hijjah begins (Tomorrow night) on Monday the 14th September from Maghrib. The first of the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah begins this Tuesday the 15th of September from Fajr. So the first fast is on Tuesday 15th Sept. The day of Arafat 9th Dhul Hijjah is on Wednesday the 23rd of September from Fajr. Eid Ul Adha 10th Dhul Hijjah is on Thursday the 24th of September from Fajr.
