Please elaborate.

modern science has revealed that the roots of mountains can reach several elevations just acting like pegs, this is mentioned in geological concept of mountains pg5,in the same page only the theory regarding tectonic plates is mentioned which tells us that mountains prevent earth from shaking, all these theories came into light during late 1960's,but Allah mentioned this fact 1400 years ago in our glorious Qur'an in Surah Al Nahl ch 16 v 15.

This peculiar idea originates with Dr. Zaghloul El-Naggar, and has been discussed on this forum before.  The theory is that most of the mass of a mountain actually lies deep underground, where is serves as a sort of "peg" to hold the earth in place and keep it from shaking.

However, as El-Naggar himself points out, these "pegs" are not embedded in anything solid.  They protrude below the bottom surface of the tectonic plates, which float in an ocean of magma.  It is the convection of the magma that causes the plates to move and collide with one another, which in turn causes the earth's surface occasionally to shake.

If anything, these protrusions on the lower surface would act more like upside-down "sails" to catch the movement of the magma below and propel the plates even more forcefully than they otherwise would.  They would therefore be more likely to cause and exacerbate earthquakes than to prevent them.

At any rate, it is evident that earthquakes are more likely to occur in mountainous areas than in flat plains, which in itself pretty much demolishes this theory.

Whenever the topic of "science" in the Quran comes up, I always wonder why Allah chose to include such useless and obscure trivia.  Why even bother telling me about the structure of mountains?  How about providing a recipe for penicillin, or anesthetic, or antiseptic?

Oh wait -- they already had a recipe for an effective antiseptic: alcohol.  But instead of praising it for that excellent purpose, the Quran forbids alcohol.  Yeah, very scientific. Tongue

U haven't read Quran properly. In ch 23 v 12-14=Allah describes the embryonic development of human, also describing at some point of time embryo acquires leech like shape which is also proved scientifically. There is a scientific fact that there are layers within layers of waves, Allah compares this fact by describing the status of darkness of nature of disbeleiver in ch 24 v 40.Allah in ch 4 v 56-we will give new layers of skin to the sinners so that they can feel the pain indicating skin is sense organ which was proved after revelation of Quran.alcohol causes hepatitis, hepatoma, cirhosis etc.isn't that scientific? ????

A hypothetical question can be put forward in reverse concerning it. Would it be better place to live if the earth is mountain free?

Actually it does mentions honey as the readily use medicine. In the old time honey was used in the battle to glue the wound, because honey has glue characteristic in it. If you have ulcer you can't stick bandaid in there than honey is the most practicable glue that stick in hard reach area. If you buy the Manuka honey you will smell the "hospital kind" smell - as soon as you open it. It is expensive though.

I don't know, but it would probably have fewer earthquakes.

Thanks, but I think I'll stick with Ozonol or Polysporin.  Besides, the use of honey for healing wounds was known to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, long before Muhammad "revealed" it.
