Salaam everyone,

In the book, "Admonition For The Neglectful", by Faqih Abu Lais Samarqandi, it is mentioned that Umar Ibn Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, once came to the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, and saw him weeping. When he enquired about the reason for the tears, the Prophet, may Allah bless and grant him peace, said:--"Allah has declared that He feels ashamed to punish an old man because of his age, then why is the old man not ashamed to disobey Allah?".

The tongue of every old person should be moist with regular thanks to Allah and other forms of Zikr. He should be ashamed to sin before the scribe Angels (Kiraamun Kaatibeen) and should therefore avoid all sins. He never knows when he will die...

Abu Fauzi, what is the source of this "hadith" other than it being found in a book by Samarqandi?

Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Prophet said:

(Allah has left no excuse for the person who lives to be sixty or seventy years old; Allah has left no excuse for him; Allah has left no excuse for him.) Imam Al-Bukhari also recorded, in the Book of Riqaq in his Sahih, that Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "The Messenger of Allah said:
