In the news it appears as if there is some good in French bombing the poor country of Mali. The bombing to look justified terrorist card is being played because under that cover you can kill and destroy even commit anything and still come out clean.
Just a little research revealed something else. French who colonized the area in the past have this colonial mentality that somehow this is their backyard where if they don't like something or if something affect their interests they can still change it!
Not only that the French are heavily addicted to the natural resources to the area, oil and uranium in particular, they feel they somehow still own this piece of Africa.
Also interesting was another piece of the puzzle that actually Pentagon was behind recent French attack, RT reports.

I think the real concern is regional destabilization by extremist, and the west has been waiting for months for the West African Security Forces (ECOWAS) to assist Mali in dealing with unrest in northern Mali, however recently the extremist were moving south toward Bamako with little resistance, and something had to be done. It seems to me that intervention is good for Mali and the region. I really don't think Mali, which is poor and landlocked has much to offer France or the United States. Northern Mali appears to have become a blowback issue from Libya.
