Hi Honeto,

If you have compared the four witnesses, the four Gospel writers, with a critical eye, you might say they dont all say the same thing, therefore it cant be the word of God. --- So throw it all out.
--- (In the Quran the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is referred to 7 times, and each time with a little variation. --- and they were all from the same source, were they not?)

--- However, God didnt make robots, but rather individuals. --- If you study their four testimonies, as we study the Bible, you will see that each one adds some information on the account of Jesus being dead and buried, and rising again --- even as Mr Deedat confirmed that Jesus was on the cross, that He died, was buried and rose again.
--- (I will come back to the 3 days and 3 nights later, but first things first.)

We have enough info to know that Joseph of Aramathea was a Pharisee, and a member of the Council, so he had knowledge of what they planned to do. --- He was not in favor, but he began to prepare for what he could do after the death of Jesus.

And Nicodemus had first come to Jesus by night and it says this in John 3:
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.

--- Notice what he said, Rabbi, --- WE (Pharisees) KNOW that you are a TEACHER COME FROM GOD. --- (How did they know?) --- FOR NO ONE CAN DO THE SIGNS, AND MIRACLES, THAT YOU DO, except God be with Him.

--- This was early in His ministry, --- so they knew they were opposing God, but that is what pride of position --- and greed will do to men.

--- They said in John 11:
45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.
46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did.
47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, What shall we do? For this Man works many signs.
48 If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.
53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.

Hi Honeto,

Sorry to be slow on getting back to this three days and three nights.
The Feast of Passover, followed by the Feast of unleavened bread, fall on the 14 and 15 of Nisan, which is our April.
--- The 14 of Nisan commemorated the Passover, when the Jews were instructed to kill a lamb for food in preparation for their leaving Egypt the next day, and to but blood on the doorposts and the lintel as a Sign that the death angel would pass over them.
--- And the next day, the 15 of Nisan was when they left Egypt, and it was called the Day of Unleavened bread, and commemorated by the Feast of Unleavened bread, which went on for seven days, and closed on the 21.

In the Gospel of John the 14 of Nisan was the Preparation Day for the first day of the feast, which was called a high day, or a special Sabbath. John 19:
31 Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him.
33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe.
--- (This was the Apostle John, who was there when it happened and wrote the Gospel account.)

The dates, the 14 and 15 of Nisan remained the same each year, but the days changed and in Dakes Commentary, he says:
Quote: The Day of Preparation was from Tuesday Sunset to Wednesday sunset. The next day Wednesday sunset to Thursday sunset was a high day (The Feast of Unleavened Bread), the special Sabbath of the feast, --- not the ordinary weekly Sabbath, which was 2 days later. End of quote.

So Jesus died on the Wednesday, the 14 of Nisan, and they had to take the bodies down before sunset, but it gave them time for Joseph and Nicodemus to wrap the body in white cloths and to put Him in the sepulcher, before sunset.

--- So, Wednesday night and Thursday day was one day and night.
--- Thursday night and Friday day was two days and nights.
--- Friday night and Saturday day was three days and nights,
--- And early in the morning of the first day of the week, Sunday, He appeared, so He could have risen any time through the night because it was already Sunday.

This is the history and Sign. --- Jesus died on the 14 of Nisan.
--- As the lamb died and was drained of blood, providing physical food for the Passover. --- Even so, Jesus shed His blood to provide Spiritual food for those who would believe. --- His death and rising again fulfilled the OT prophecies concerning Him.

However there are further prophecies saying, --- He is coming again.

Placid,
Jews followed and still follow lunar calender. And how it could be another day when they were needing to take them down as it was Sabbath at sundown that day and were needed to break their legs.
I am afraid to say that your three lengthy posts still do not solve that simple maths question. They just don't add up to be three days and three night, even after your three long posts.

The friends of God will certainly have nothing to fear, nor will they be grieved. Al Quran 10:62

Hi Hasan,

The day of the crucifixion was Wednesday, which was the Preparation day for the Sabbath which began at sunset.
-- So that Sabbath was on Thursday, and the Friday was the Preparation day for the weekly Sabbath on Saturday.

They wrapped the body in strips of white cloth and layed Him in the sepulcher on Wednesday before sunset.--- Then waited till the Sunday, the first day of the week, to bring the spices they prepared to embalm Him.

When they came on the Sunday morning, He had already risen.

The three long posts were to show the story that your Mr Deedat told, which you may want to believe, is quite different from what the Gospel accounts say, is it not?
