Comtimplator , do not give up the search for truth ! God is calling you out but you must seek to find as Jesus said. Pray , read and fellowship and i believe God will honor that and reveal his plan for you ! Peace

As'alaamu Alaikkum I too was a Catholic and from an early age I found Catholicism to be very hypocritical. For example, people would drink alcohol and then attend church and take the holy communion whilst the alcohol is still inside them. I also found that a man born to a woman could never be the son of god or god incarnated. Worst of all is the worship of the wooden cross. I think the reason for your depression is that your soul is searching to fill the void, it is looking for God. If you are seriously searching then you are being guided by the Almighty and you should not ignore Him. Satan is taunting you to reject God and follow him instead, this is also another reason for you depression, one cannot truly be happy without God. Islam is not a new religion, it was the religion given to father Adam (pbuh) and all the pious prophets of God. Islam itself means peace in Arabic and all the prophets and believers were Muslims which means one who has submitted to God. God revealed the Torah to Moses (pbuh) and the Children of Israel decided to corrupt it and follow their own whims and desires. Then they called themselves Jews and the chosen people of God. Then Jesus (pbuh) came with the same message that is to worship the One True God. Again his message was corrupted by individuals and they made Jesus (pbuh) into a deity. God cursed the Jews and the Christians are astray so it is only fitting that He sent the final message and the final messenger to mankind until the Day of Resurrection. After the establishment of Islam, the only way to salvation is through the final messenger Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). |

Hi ... And ur welcome to the IC. Wish u find what u want here but as for seeking the truth, you should consult a Muslim scholar and ask him face to face all ur questions and explain ur concerns. The forum is not a reliable source for such basic information. Some people here talk without knowldge and give u their personal opinion not God words. If you seek the truth go through the reliable channels. May Allah guide us to HIS LIGHT!

I know about depression, stress, and sadness. God is my answer. Here are some words that help me. We pray for blessings, we pray for peace Comfort for family, protection while we sleep We pray for healing, for prosperity We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering All the while You hear each spoken need Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things 'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears? What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You're near? What if trials of this life Are Your mercies in disguise? We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love As if every promise from Your Word is not enough And all the while You hear each desperate plea And long that we'd have faith to believe When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win We know that pain reminds this heart That this is not, this is not our home It's not our home What if my greatest disappointments Or the aching of this life Is the revealing of a greater thirst This world can't satisfy? And what if trials of this life The rain, the storms, the hardest nights Are Your mercies in disguise? written by, Laura Story I wonder if you might benefit from looking into Buddhism... inner peace. I don't think God wants any soul to be suffering. I don't pay any attention to how many people view my posts. |

Hello and welcome Contimplator! I think that if you believe in God, and want to get closer to Him, you will find a way. In Islam, we believe: God (Allah) swt said: "I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself. And if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me a hand's span, I draw near to him an arm's length. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed." (Hadist Qudsi: Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah) Basically meaning that if a person is lost, and is trying to find God, God will help him come closer to Him and find the straight path. All we have to do is take the first step (having an intention to come closer to God is that first step). We'd happy to answer (or help you find answers) to any questions you may have. Where do you live? Maybe we could suggest a nice Mosque in the city you are in and you could drop by and meet some muslims in person. See you around! |

Hey....it's okay to be lost. It happens ...nobody can tell you what to believe you just have to come to that conclusion yourself. Take your time to truly get to know the religions out there and figure out what works for you. If you like the concept of Islam than inform yourself and see what happens.
Hope it works out Amal P.S don't take it personal regarding the lack of response..I posted something and only got two replies while 70 ppl viewed my post...guess they aren't into replying much here lol.. Edited by Amal.A - 18 May 2012 at 7:08pm |
