Someone once remarked that "research studies" mostly state the obvious, or are totally wrong:

Men do have trouble hearing women, scientists find

Men who are accused of never listening by women now have an excuse -- women's voices are more difficult for men to listen to than other men's, a report said.

The Daily Mail, quoting findings published in the specialist magazine

NeuroImage, said researchers at Sheffield university in northern England discovered startling differences in the way the brain responds to male and female sounds.

Men deciphered female voices using the auditory part of the brain that processes music, while male voices engaged a simpler mechanism, it said.

The Mail quoted researcher Michael Hunter as saying, "The female voice is actually more complex than the male voice, due to differences in the size and shape of the vocal cords and larynx between men and women, and also due to women having greater natural 'melody' in their voices.

"This causes a more complex range of sound frequencies than in a male voice."

The findings may help explain why people suffering hallucinations usually hear male voices, the report added, as the brain may find it much harder to conjure up a false female voice accurately than a false male voice.

Bismillah,

Why do I find this hilarious?

I think that men have trouble responding to written statements by women also.  The explanation?  Many men don't think women's opinions are important!

That was cool sister. Might I add, if the woman is the boss they will not have that much of problem listening to her. Or if the news bulletin is read by a woman, or a female singer, or voices from television in general, if they are female.

I think this is more of a can't hear the wife clearly syndrome

On a serious note, I think many women nag men and then they tune out and women wonder why men don't hear, lol!

Bismillah,

Nausheen, that's a good point also.  Maybe when we need milk from the store we could give a news bulletin or sing it in a song with fancy clothes on.

Because God forbid that when we've been without milk for a couple of days and we have no money or car ourselves that we should "NAG" our husbands by asking a second or third time for it!

Auzubillahi minash shaitan ir rajeem,

Bismillah ir rahman ir rahim,

I think sister herjihad, naging is not a healthy practice. May be we shld try sending e-mails

My husband adviced me to send e-mail to the boss when he is not in office and I have something important to discuss. But I never tried this on hubby dear

btw, phone calls work better than face to face conversations - possibly the brain cells involved while recieving a phone call are separate set.

Maa salaama,

Nausheen
