I see no difference between Wikileaks putting out information revealed to them and a newspaper or the cable news television networks doing the same thing.  However, if it can be shown that the secret or classified information was solicited in some way, then that is another story.  If that is the case Wikileaks should be held accountable also.  The government employee that revealed what he had promised not to reveal will be and should go to jail for a very long time.

I used to work with a guy who's son Bradley Manning was in the US army and was actually responsible for leaking many of these cables. It was a fascinating story but also very sad and tragic too as to why he felt the need to do this.

I think it's a brilliant idea, but there has to be some limits.
I agree with schmikbob that is would be the same as hearing it on the news; but the fact that it's run through the internet worries me about the "shady" ways the information could be acquired.
And then there's always the possibilities of things being faked (this IS the internet after all) and people taking it way out of proportion and ruining it for everyone else.

It will be interesting to see where this all goes.

I beleive that every citizen should have the right to know what their elected officials are talking and doing, so they don't step over others rights.
