As I personally read in the Koran,

"To Allah, belongs the most beautiful names!"

If God created humanity, his name is in many languages and dialects I see no personal favoritism. However, I personally reject Allah being an "actual name" of God no more than "Jehovah" being an actual name of God. Allah belongs in the alphabet of Arabic, a human language. Allah isn't human so I personally find it appropriate to call God, Allah, the most common name in one's own culture that is attributed to him.

In Arabic "Elah" is the word for "god"... Allah litterally means "The God" (or God with capital "G" if you like)... There is nothing in the Quran that prevents Non-Arabs from speaking about or mentioning God/Allah in their own language. Therefore, There is nothing wrong about using the word God.
The only good argument I ever heard against the use went as follows:
We live in a mostly Christian society and the word "God" is somewhat mixed with misconceptions about Jesus (eg son of God, etc). When we use the word "Allah" we are making clear we do not subscribe to the above mentioned misconceptions.
As far as the names of Allah/God mentioned in the Quran, they are all in Arabic (because the Quran is in Arabic). Quran never said other people cannot praise God in their own language and call Him by good names.

The Jewish and Christian God is capitalized and has no plural. Polytheists believe in several gods and the word is not capitalized.

GOD in Christians only singular, they made it Plural "God's" when it come to mythology and other religions that believe in many Gods. It really depends on what is your religion.

So what does the trinity imply , Father+Son+Holy Ghost=1Wink
Father is God, Son is God and so is Holy Ghost, Three Gods or three gods you know where this is going?
In case of allah the capitalization doesn't matter; it is the unique utterance that represents unity, just not English grammar.
Yes one can say God if constrained by linguistics as long as the concept of unity is not lost...It is lot simpler when discussing things Islamic to use Allah/allah when referring to the creator god!
