It is reported that Sufyn Al-Thawr Allh have mercy on him said, Wealth is the disease of this Ummah, and the scholar is the doctor of this Ummah. So if the doctor brings the disease to himself, how will he cure the people?

Al-Dhahab, Siyar Alm Al-Nubal`, Vol. 7 p243.

It is reported that Al-Hasan Al-Basr often used to say, O youth! Seek the hereafter, for we often see people pursuing the hereafter and finding it as well as the duny (worldly wellbeing), but we have never seen anyone pursue the duny and gain the hereafter as well as the duny.

Al-Bayhaq, Al-Zuhd Al-Kabr, article 12.

The world is three days: As for yesterday, it has vanished. As for tomorrow, you may never see it. As for today, it is yours, so work on it. Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become character. Watch your character, they become destiny.

I don't know whose quote it is but get to read this quite often

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: All the descendants of Adam are sinners, and the best of sinners are those who repent."
