Wa'alaikum salaam,

Dear Azah,
Asbabunnuzul or which is why this verse was revealed in connection with the idolaters who once said to the Prophet, "O Muhammad, tell us about the genealogy of your Lord!", then this verse came down. (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi, Al-Hakim, Ibn Khuzaimah of Ubay ibn Ka'b)

Sura Al Ikhlas also as a proof of monotheism that there is no god but Allah.

Wassalaam,
Asep

Can you explain what the purpose of the above

Assalamu'alaikum,

Dear Siti Maznah,
The purpose of the hadith is that all human beings will not be spared from doing wrong, whether it's big or small mistakes, whether intentional or not.
However, if repent or ask forgiveness of Allah, then Allah will soon give forgiveness (see Surah Al-Furqan 25:70).

Islam had come to the world to fight the Jahiliya and we Muslims being regarded all over the world today as the representatives of that same Jahiliya is something we find completely unacceptable. For as much as at least the last five hundred years religious thought in Islam has been largely stagnant, even though original, what is called orthodox Islam suggested ways in which to accept and internalise change.

Is there something we can do about it? Perhaps, not much! It is too gigantic a task for us to undertake with our meagre resources. But do we have the option to do nothing, just stand and stare? We dont think so. There is a large body of Muslims all over the world that we know feels more or less the same way as we do. The internet gives us a facility: we can try and bring many such people together either on one platform or at least link many of the individual platforms of like-minded people that already exist.

Assalaamualaikum,

What you pointed out, I personally think is correct, but please do not be discouraged because this isn't all errors Ummah, but many leaders of the Islamic ummah (now) also have contributed in the ummah's error, including:

Ummah

1. Quite satisfied and confident of what has been delivered by the Imam / leader, so no longer need to read and deepen the knowledge of the Word of Allah in the Qur'an. Though the Prophet has said:

"Quran is a helper who can give help and defenders of truth, then whoever the persons put Al Quran as an Imam (put in front), then it will lead them to heaven, and whoever the persons put it behind, so it will drag them to hell." (Narrated by Ibnu Majah, al-Hakim, Muslim)

2. Permissive: ie easily influenced by the invitations as if such invitation was justified in Islam, they have no desire to prove true or false that such invitations are justified in the Qur'an and the Sahih Hadiths, so came the heretical sects, terorism etc. Allah SWT berfirman dalam Surah 17:36

And do not follow what you don't have knowledge about it. Truly hearing, sight/vision and heart, everything will be questioned.

3. Etc.

Imam/Ummah Leader

1. Rarely describing matters related to the world of science to the ummah, so that many of ummah who are less interested in studying. Allah SWT says in Surah 28:77

...Walaatansa nashiibaka minaddunyaa...
(...And do not forget your part in the world ...)

The purpose of the verse is: we are commanded by God to study not only for happiness in the hereafter, but also for happiness of the world should be sought.

Rasulullah SAW said:
"Those who want happiness of the world, then it must be with the knowledge. Those who want happiness of the hereafter, then it must be with the knowledge. And those who want both, then it must be with the knowledge." (Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim)

2. Frequently happen Ikhtilaf (difference of opinion) among the leaders, occassionally it leads to Iftiraqul ummah (the split in the ummah). Allah SWT says in Surah 3:103

"And hold fast all of you to the religion of Allah, and do not crumbled, ..."

3. Often found on the wealthy Muslims and leaders of the Muslims Countries who don't spend part of his wealth or his thoughts for the sake of the progress of the other muslims, as if seen apathy (but not all).

4. Etc.

Let's look backward, ie in the heyday of science at the time of the Umayyah (661-750 AD), Abbasiyah (749-1258 AD), at the time of the empire of Fathimiyah, figures muslims in Andalusia (1126-1198 AD). They are the leading Muslim scientists before the arrival of the attention of western countries to translate the Quran and scientic books created by Muslims scientists in the 12th century.

A brief conclusion, maybe we should immediately change our mindset, and the way is fairly simple, just follow the word of Allah, surah Ali 'Imran (3):103, and by the starting point of this verse, Muslims will go forward in every things, Insha Allah.

Wassalaam,
Asep
