Is this the correct ranking of our works?Question
  • Most Important:
Farz        vs      Haram
Wajib
     vs      Big Makruh and Fased

  • Then: Sunnat-e-Muakkadah      vs      Small Mukruh
  • Then Others: Sunnat-e-Ghair-e-Muakkadah, Nafal, Mustahab, Mubah, etc.

Answer: The correct terminology is Sunna of the Holy Apostle. The Holy Apostle did not classify the Ibadat as Wajib, Fard in the sense and manner we are made to understand today. Farz was probably used twice in Hadith: Searching for Ilm is Farz on every Muslim and believer and in Hadith No.30. The Muslim Jurists and scholars termed any obligation from Allah as Farz and its explanation by the Holy Apostle as Wajib. Ibn Hazam Andalusi termed such words under "Alfaz da iratun baynal ahlal Nazr'. Haram is anything forbiden by Allah. Makruh is anything detestable by one, but may not be detestable by another. Allah uses the word Makruh in chapter 9:46.
Sunnat Muakkadah: Are those non-obligatory duties performed by the Holy Apostle constantly like Witr prayer, the two Raka'at before fajr prayer, taking bath for the friday prayer, Siwak, etc. Ghair Muakkadah are like the Nawafil prayers of Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, visiting graves, etc.
Mustahab. Are recommendable duties that are Wajib  but are not fixed. One is allowed to read any chapter of the Holy Qur 'an in the first and second Raka'at according to the Sunna. One can repeat his ablution before prayer and siwak etc.
Mubah resembles Mustahab.
As I said earlier be careful. Understand Ibadat on the basis of the Sunna of the Holy Apostle. Follow the Holy Apostle according to your ability. However there is only one understanding! If you want understand any word find out how it is used in the Holy Qur 'an first of all.
