Quote Response: That was their saying. But I do not agree with them. Ibn Hazm, known as Abi Muhammmad Aliyu Ibn Ahmad ibn Saeed Ibn Hazm Zahiri (384-452) is not an innovator. It was probably the followers of those scholars who disagreed with that called him an innovator. I possess three books written by him - Ihkam fi usul ahkam, fissal, and Muratibul Ijma'a  fil Ibadat wal Mu'aamilaat wal mu'taqidaat. Muhammad Zuhra also wrote on his life history. I prefer we judge people on what they wrote and not what one said about them. We differed in our depth of understanding injunctions on Mu'aamalat, Taqdir, and other Attributes of Allah. It is unfair to criticize one on what one does not understand. I do not understand how the sun will rise from the West and Set on the East. I should not be called a Kafir since no one will explain to me the phenomenon. Rising the sun from the West and setting on the East will be the day or moment I die! Ibn Hazm's istinbati is on standing by the Sunna of the holy Prophet and does not even agree on changing the lafz (words) spoken by the holy Prophet. He was praised by his contempoaraires as, "The tongue of Ibn Hazm and the sword of Hajj ibn Yusuf are similar".

Problems lies when ppl starting thinking tht every scholar is authority in every field. There is no doubt tht Ibn Hazm has done some gd work as mentioned in tht article. But he has made some huge mistakes when it comes to fiqh and aqeedah and shld not be considered authority in those field. Science of Islam is divided in to different fields (Aqeeda/hadith/tafseer/fiqh/tassawuf) and when hv specialised scholars for every field.

Rasoolullah Sallallahi alaihi wasallam did not preach that book, nor did the Sahaba read/recomend that book for blind following.

Assalamu alaikum.

Response: Please do not fall into the trap of those who accused someone without proof. Islam demands witnesses while passing a judgment. What were his mistakes in the books he wrote down? If he made a mistake it is on him and not on you! It is only Muhammad who never made a mistake! Imam bin Hazam never wrote books on hadith literature and methodology (Usul of Ulum hadith first written by Raamahramzi d.360 A.H) or a Tafsir. If you have ever read a book written on the subject matter 'Aqeeda' for example by Ibn Taymiyya and Abubakar Jabir a-Jazaa'iri you will realize that people do not know even the meaning of Aqeeda.
Friendship.
.......I dont follow Ibn Hazm nor Ibn Taymiyya in the matter of aqeeda.........
No blind following of Shaikhs in any matter...not only Aqidah.
But once someone explains and proves from the Qur'an and Sunnah as to what is right and what is wrong, we have to follow that.

According to authentic narration of our beloved prophet (peace be upon him), there will be group of ppl who will recite Quran but quran wont go down their throat.

There are criteria which ur sheikh shld fulfil b4 he can interpret Quran and hadith.

Mainstream is a term generally used to mean that which is ordinary or usual with familiar appeal to the masses.

I suppose by orthodox views you mean those views which are conforming to established religious doctrine derived from the Qur'aan and the Sunnnah.

And why would anyone waste his/her time reading the views of those writers rather than read and follow the established doctrines.
