I don't think you can judge everyone in America for the actions of the government. I would never even dream of judging anyone, ever. Am just a bit curious about the average mental age of an average American. I agree with the rest of your post, with just one bit of difference. Yes, we find ignorance, of all forms and shapes, all over our world. But our aunt Ignoranca becomes an extremely dangerous thing when it's backed by the world's largest single lethal arsenal. |

Herjihad said: "Remember the world conspiracy theory of a secret
organization of rich dudes who pull the strings?" - funny you should mention this, sister, I've been discovering these rich dudes and their 'secret' (it's not) society The Bilderberg Group in a book written by someone who's been studying them for 15 years. There's a problem these days with the term 'conspiracy theory', it has been demonised to such an extent that the use of it successfully repels intelligent consideration of any theory or idea attached to it. Hence the 9/11 'Truth movement' has been bunched with the JFK murder theories and the Illuminati and UFO followers are now all grouped under one heading, and given an image of a collective protecting itself from the ordinary by wearing tin foil hats. The theory of the rich dudes controlling government is not a theory nor a conspiracy, you can observe it with the naked eye. Today, practically every country's foreign policies are dictated by the requirements of Big Industry (most notably the Military-Industrial complex, but also hand in hand with Big Pharma and Big Banking). Just yesterday a report on the news commented on how succesfull the new French President Sarkozy's trips abroad are, for french business. He came back from China, for example, with huge contracts for (partly French built) Airbus planes, amongst other things. We are led to believe these negotiations benefit the people of France (likewise, if we were talking about the foreign visits of practically any other world leader) but in practice we know it only benefits the share holders and board of directors etc. After all, the riots in the French suburbs may not have happened had the benefits of all those millions of Euro contracts affected their lives for the better. An awful lot of these rich dudes are from so-called American aristocracy like the Rockerfellers and Rothschilds, and the main share holders of banking and finance institutions, which in the past (and present) have been largely responsible for funding the think tanks and organisations formed to forward their corporate and family interests. It takes some tenacity to sift through the badly designed webs dedicated to this organisation, and to winnow out the 'loony' attachments such as occult worship, UFO connections and such like. And this all helps maintain a shroud of mystery over their plans. You might like to check here Bilderberg Book |

Whisper, I have to agree with you on that. Americans should take care to not be ignorant of the world around them when they can have such an impact on the lives of people in other countries. The government is supposed to be kept in check by the people, but if the people aren't paying attention then the government can pretty much do what they want. Truly, it saddens me that so many people blissfully live in ignorance having no idea how they effect so many others by their inaction. I have actually had people call me a liar when I told them the United States sends more foreign aid to Israel than any other country. I told them to simply look it up on the official website of the US government, but of course they refused. It was easier to just assume I was wrong and stay ignorant. |

No. They know you are right, but our self-defense mechanism wants us to forget the sorest wound, specially, when we are so convinced of being able to do nothing about such things. The saddest thing about the US is that most people genuinely believe that they are helpless about such matter unless you are a millionaire. Perhaps they are right, we have never seen many public figures who aren't. |
