Unity of all Muslims on Hadith Project

You who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in command among you. If you have a dispute about something, refer it back to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best thing to do and gives the best result. (Qur'an 4:59)

We only sent you* for the whole of mankind, bringing good news and giving warning. But most of mankind do not know it. (Qur'an 34:28)

*you = i.e. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)

Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah. If anyone turns away, we did not send you to them as their keeper. (Qur'an 4:80)

Obey Allah and His Messenger and do not quarrel among yourselves lest you lose heart and your momentum disappear. And be steadfast. Allah is with the steadfast. (Qur'an 8:46)

100s of evidences available at : The Necessity of Hadith

Vision statement:

To implement the Islamic-politico-socio economic system which is the only perfect system and which is the solution to all problems humanity is facing today. Since this Islamic politico-socio-economic system is based mainly on the Qur'an and the Hadith, The Muslims must be united on the importance, scope, and range of Hadith. The vision being providing so much decisive evidence for Hadith Defense, awareness, scope, range and study material that no one can question the importance of Hadith and all can be united on a large amount of Authentic Hadith.

Mission statement:

To convince each and every Muslim to accept the authentic Hadith and to unite all Muslims on the scope, importance and range of Hadith and to provide each and every muslim easy and free access to Hadith defense, awareness, study, scope, range material in his own language and specially in Arabic and English so that there is no room for doubt and there is no room for Christian missionaries, orientalists and westernized Muslim scholars to create any kind of doubt regarding Hadith in the hearts and minds of Muslims.

The steps involved:

Note: All the steps of this process must be carried out in an honest, sincere and unbiased way. Any biased behavior may lead to loss in the Infinite life that everyone of you will face after death.

There are many Hadith defense resources not currently available for free download on internet.  But it is possible to make them freely available for free download. It involves a few simple steps and all of you can participate for the noble cause of greater Hadith awareness.

1. Verification.

Are these books or which of these books are good enough to publish freely online. For this step help can be taken from reputed scholars and organizations e.g. Organizations in Saudi Arabia, IRF, Dr Zakir Naik, Dr Bilal Philips etc...

2. Permission.

Permission to publish them freely on internet for the purpose of decisive Hadith defense and removing misconceptions being created by the enemies of Islam and some scholars who are easily influenced by propaganda against Hadith. For that 1st take permission from the author and ask the author to get permission from the publishers too. If the author has died then convince the publisher to allow free publishing of the book.

(If necessary, you can even convince the publisher or author by offering him, that, in addition to allow free access and download of his books from internet, those interested in hard copies of the book can be referred to the official selling site of the author or publisher in question. This is an additional motivator to be used only if necessary. But the viewers must have free access to the books on internet.)

3. Translating from Arabic to English:

Many convincing Hadith defense books are also available in Arabic. These books have to be translated into English and then published freely online for greater Hadith defense. Regarding permission issues see the point on permission above.

4. Classical Hadith manuscripts:

Old manuscripts, pages of Hadith books, Hadith material available in museums and other classical Hadith books which help in proving early Hadith existense must be scanned and published freely online with translation into english and with evidence of presence in later popular collections of Hadith.

5. Publishing the books freely Online.

1. The high quality printed editions of all the Hadith defense books can be scanned and uploaded freely in high quality.

2. Then retyping the text but scanning the pictures can also be done in addition to step 1 to increase readability quality even further. For this professional and reputed Islamic organizations can be contacted to arrange for manpower to do this work.

6. Publishing material on Hadith scope and range:

Material proving evidence for the range and scope of Hadith must also be published freely online for free access in popular languages specially English.

7. Publishing Hadith study and awareness material:

Study material and awareness material for Hadith must be published freely online in all popular languages specially English.

8. Establishment of Hadith Complex (A full time organization for serving Hadith):

A professional and highly resourceful organization must be established to serve the Hadith i.e. an important source of Islamic law. This organization will have many responsibilities including performing all the above mentioned tasks and more, doing more and more research on Hadith and then making the results freely available to mass public by publishing all the Hadith defense, awareness, range, scope and study material freely online in all popular languages. Some of the key responsibilities of this suggested organization as I mentioned before include:

1. Authentic Hadith defense,

2. Hadith awareness,

3. Defining scope and range of Hadith,

4. Hadith study material,

5. Making all Hadith defense, awareness, scope, range and study material freely available online in all popular languages specially English and Arabic.

6. Assigning a team of higly professional Hadith missionaries who will be responsible for dealing with scholars who try to attack Hadith by providing decisive evidence for Hadith defense and removing the misconceptions that the enemies of Islam may create in the future and removing all the misconceptions that have been created about Hadith specially in the past century.

7. Attacking inauthentic Hadith with evidences. And also identifying weak Hadith.

7. And many more...The rest will Insha'ALLAH! be realized automatically once the organization has been set up.

Your responsibility:

The readers' responsibility is to convey this web page and suggestions to all powerful Islamic organizations i.e. the ones highly financed and resourceful e.g. the ones in Saudi Arabia, to reputed and popular organizations like IRF of Dr Zakir Naik and also to popular and reputed scholars worldwide. Also ask as many people as possible to convey these suggestions so that we can also create public demand pressure.

(Sometimes isolated emails are very conveniently thrown away like trash by some people, but after thinking over it I have decided to avoid emailing directly and start creating public demand pressure. After all, if you work hard to put up such a solution, why would you allow some one to reject the idea without the mass population of Muslims never even knowing the idea.)

More Comments:

Islam is the only solution which gives a complete politico-socio-economic system of life but without sufficient defense, awareness, propagation of Hadith; without free, easy and mass availability of Hadith defense, study and awareness material in popular languages specially English; without decisive and exhaustive research on all important Hadith issues and then freely sharing that research in popular languages specially English; without free publishing online of all important Hadith issues like study material, defense material, awareness material, decisive evidence material etc...in all popular languages specially English and with Missionaries, orientalists, and some befooled Muslim scholars bombarding Muslims with material attacking Hadith, how can you expect the Muslim Ummah to be united when the Islamic system is based on the Qur'an and The Hadith. When you don't upload free material on Hadith awareness, defense, study etc... in popular languages including English, how do you think you (i.e Islamic organizations) are not responsible for those Muslims that are misguided by heretic cults. Missionaries and orientalists are trying to divide Muslims by exploiting the general ignorance of powerful Islamic organizations regarding Hadith. Hadith being a complex subject demanded investment of huge resources into proper defense, awareness and propagation of Hadith in popular languages, but these organizations haven't done enough till now. And I hope after reading this, some one will atleast take notice of this situation and wake up the resourceful and/or popular Muslim scholars.

But authenticity is important and a trusted/reputed/experienced Islamic scholar must lead this research. Research by unknown, unrecognized scholars is useless.

As you all know, Insha'ALLAH soon time for establishing a true Islamic-politico-socio-economic system will come and when that comes remember the Ayaat given in my article : Hadith . Out of dozens of Ayaat I am only quoting translation of 2 here.

Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah. If anyone turns away, we did not send you to them as their keeper. (4:80)

You who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in command among you. If you have a dispute about something, refer it back to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best thing to do and gives the best result. (4:59)

To convince each and every Muslim to follow authentic Hadith and to unite all Muslims on the scope, importance and range of Hadith, this project must to be implemented as soon as possible.

You can also suggest me to make this project plan even more efficient and effective by giving suggestions and more ideas.

"Dear Muslim organizations: Don't ignore this plan. I have conveyed the plan. If you close your eyes, we will see the consequences of your decision for you and me on the Day of Judgement Insha'ALLAH!"

Current situation:

Highly financed and resourceful organizations in Saudi Arabia

While highly resourceful and highly invested organizations in Saudi Arabia are spending huge amounts of investment on the Qur'an, its translation and distribution, I won't be wrong if I say they have in a way not given the due importance and resources to Hadith Defense, awareness, translations and spread etc... In other words , they have in an indirect way neglected the Hadiths' due importance and if heretic Hadith rejectors or Sunnah deviators are arising, these organizations are also responsible for ignoring Hadiths' due importance thus allowing immature people to indulge into Hadith and who misguide themselves and then misguide others. Unbalanced behaviour on the Qur'an and Hadith by these organizations shouldn't continue and its high time they allocate at least as much resources as they have allocated to the Qur'an.

These organizations have enough resources:

1. To scan and publish old historical manuscripts and books of Hadith online with translation into English and evidence of presence in later popular collections of Hadith.

2. These have enough resources to translate from Arabic to English the highly convincing Hadith defense books, both classical and relatively new ones and then publish them freely online both in Arabic and English.

3. These have enough resources to publish currently available Hadith defense books in English by M. M. Azmi and Hamidullah etc... freely online.

4. These have enough resources to take all available collections of Hadith , grade them all using the science of Hadith, translate them (specially in English) and then publish them freely online with the full chain of narrators, the Classical Hadith books, volume numbers and hadith numbers where the Hadith is listed, reputation of narrators etc...i.e. Chain of narrators , text of Hadith, Hadith number, volume number, book number, Classical hadith book name e.g. bukhari etc...

then reputation of each narrator in chain. Comments on strength of Hadith etc...

And then publish these in popular languages of the world specially English. All these books must be translated into English atleast.

5. Hadith Complex must be established just as Qur'an Complex has been established,...to serve Hadith and remove misconceptions about Hadith and refute the misguidance being spread by immature people, the main reason of their misguidance may be lack of sufficient resources, but in Saudi Arabia, specially the Complex team has no shortage of resources. They can easily implement these ideas, if they have enough motivation to serve the Hadith as they are trying to serve the Qur'an.

An empty mind is a devil's workshop and lack of proper and professional Hadith research, defense and propagation by reputed Islamic organizations is heretic cults' and scholars workshop.

So convincing these organizations to start taking Hadith defense, awareness and propagation seriously is also a key part of this project so that they take up this project.

IRF (Islamic Research Foundation)

Now as I said the above organizations have alot of resources, financial, manpower and time. They don't have the mass public popularity as the following organization.

Islamic Research Foundation may not currently have enough resources e.g. financing, manpower and time , but it has a reputation and most importantly leadership and mass public acceptance and trust in the form of Dr Zakir Naik. Dr Zakir Naik and IRF have achieved many objectives for Islam Masha'ALLAH! and if they are convinced by you people to start this greater Hadith defense project themselves, it may even be better. For that:

1. 1st they have to be convinced, by indicating the ultimate demand for such a project these days.

2. They can be asked to estimate the expected cost of such a project including financing, buying historical manuscripts, books; arranging high quality manpower who are expert in Hadith issues, arranging honest and unbiased high quality Arabic to English translators and buying necessary rights to accomplish this mass publishing.

3. When the cost has been estimated, Muslims can be asked to donate generously to achieve the successful completion of this project.

4.  Other Islamic scholars who are working for Sunnah e.g. Dr Bilal Philips can also be convinced to participate any way he can.

5. The project plan can even be made better by holding discussions about it between popular and reputed Islamic scholars from the entire world.

The name is Islamic Research Foundation, it would be excellent if they really did some serious research work on Hadith issues and then shared that research online freely.

Appendix 1:

I mentioned uniting each and every Muslim in my mission statement and I being a man who takes practical necessities into account when making such big statements, here is the necessary key to uniting all Muslims.

Uniting all Muslims on the scope, importance, number and range of Authentic Hadith

Each and every Muslim can not be united unless each and every Hadith belonging to each and every sect or group is not graded and unless it is convincingly proved why this particular Hadith is authentic and why that particular Hadith in inauthentic, or weak. The sects wrongly formed among Muslims cannot be removed and Muslims can't be united without performing this thorough research and sharing this research with all Muslims.

These convincing proofs of grading and research for every single Hadith need to be shared freely in English, Arabic and other popular languages and also freely online on the internet, with clear labels for each Hadith as Authentic, Inauthentic etc... The chain of narrators along with their strengths, reputation etc... must also accompany every graded Hadith and any related authentic Hadith must also be referred to.

Comprehensive and thorough analysis and grading of every single Hadith must be done, no matter which sect believes in it, all available Hadith must be graded and all the results of research on every single Hadith must be shared freely on internet.

You can't expect every Muslim to follow a particular sect's accepted range of Hadith, without even bothering to share a comprehensive research on all available Hadith with all Muslims, proving why the set of hadith you believe as authentic are really authentic and why the set of hadith you believe as inauthentic are really inauthentic. All Muslims will be united Insha'ALLAH, if the Authentic Hadith collection is 1 after a thorough research.

You claim to love the Prophet (peace be upon him) and yet I see many strong muslim organizations completely ignoring the due importance of a comprehensive, exhaustive, and all-encompassing research on Hadith and then sharing that research with all Muslims to unite all Muslims on the range of Authentic Sunnah and Hadith.

Its time to set up a full time unbiased Hadith organization, doing core Hadith research and sharing the results of that research with all Muslims in Arabic, English and other popular languages. Arabic and English are absolutely a must regarding all the end products of the research that are to be shared on internet and other resources for all Muslims to see, and then actually and practically unite all Muslims on a fixed rage, scope and number of Authentic Hadith, so that Muslims are completely united on the range and number of authentic hadith as they are completely united on the Ayaat and Suraahs of the Qur'an.

Then a single big compilation of Hadith must be prepared containing all authentic Hadith with complete justification of authenticity of each Hadith and a smaller version of this compilation can also be created later containing only the authentic Hadith for users to easily read and follow. Also, a single big compilation of Hadith must be prepared containing all inauthentic Hadith with complete justification of inauthenticity, weakness and errors in each inauthentic Hadith.

So the above exercise must be carried out as soon as possible. All the necessary plan of action is obvious. Pressurize reputed and strong Islamic organizations to immediately start this thorough, exhaustive and all-encompassing research on Hadith and then share all the results of this research with all Muslims in Arabic, English and other popular languages and in an unbiased and organized manner. Those organizations claiming to be research organizations are wrong in their claim unless they are performing this research on all Hadith.

Of course you don't want people to ignore authentic Hadith and you don't want people to follow inauthentic Hadith, then you must carry out this comprehensive research and open grading with justifications for each and every Hadith and publish the results freely online in all popular languages specially Arabic and English.

What are you waiting for? Immediately pressurize reputed Islamic organizations to take up this research!

Appendix 2:

Hadith awareness and defense books in English to be verified and uploaded freely online.

1. Studies in Early Hadith literature by M.M. Azami

This book contains a survey of the literary activities in Pre and Early Islamic Arabia. It also includes information on thousands of books circulating among scholars in the pre-classical period. The book goes on authenticity of Hadith and explanation of terminology such as Akhbarana and so forth. Abdur Raheem Green said in an authoratative exposition that "...M. M. Azami in his Studies in Early Hadith Literature (pp.34-60) gives details of 50 Companions who at one time or another preserved the hadith in writing. The letters which the Prophet - peace and blessings upon him - himself had sent to various provinces are no different from his hadith...M. M. Azami (pp.60-106) gives details of over 100 Successors who wrote down hadith..."

http://islamicbookstore-com.stores.yahoo.net/b2912.html

2. Studies in Hadith literature and methodology by M. M. Azami

This book, in lucid English, discusses the methodology and literature of ahadith. Divided into 2 parts, part 1 deals with the methodology of the hadith, and the second part discusses the literature, introducing the six principal books, as well as others which had great significance and represent a stage in the compilation of Hadith books. The author hopes that through careful reading, it would eliminate most of the doubts which have been created, deliberately or out of ignorance, by Orientalists and others and would provide basic knowledge of the subject.

3. On Schacht's origins of Muhammadan Jurispudence by M. M. Azami

This in-depth study, carried out by one of Islam's leading scholars, presents a detailed analysis and critique of the classic Orientalist work, Schacht's Origins of Muhammadan Jurisprudence. Azami's work examines the sources used by Schacht to develop his thesis on the relation of Islamic law to the Qur'an, and exposes fundamental flaws in Schacht's methodology that lead to conclusions unsupported by the texts examined. This book is an important contribution to Islamic legal studies from an Islamic perspective.

4. An introduction to the conservation of Hadith : in the light of Sahifah of Hammam bin Munnabih by Dr. Muhammad Hamidullah

Since the past century, orientalist works had challenged the authenticity of Hadith material (sayings of the Prophet), claiming that these collections of hadiths were done orally and therefore subject to misreporting and alterations. Dr Hamidullah discovered very early collections of hadiths preserved in libraries in Turkey, France and Germany, and on the basis of these, refuted the misgivings spread by orientalists. This work selects the collections of Hammam ibn Munabbih, a disciple of a companion of the Prophet to substantiate his arguments.

Appendix 3:

All the above research is the task of reputed, popular and experienced Islamic scholars and the normal Muslim can only create demand pressure as much as possible so that this very important project is taken up. Although, every Muslim may not be able to understand the necessity of this project, but when the time of implementing Islam practically will come, this research will Insha'ALLAH be very useful and necessary to keep the Muslims united and give them a solid and united way to refer back to ALLAH (using the Qur'an) and refer back to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) using the authentic Hadith.

You who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in command among you. If you have a dispute about something, refer it back to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best thing to do and gives the best result. (Qur'an 4:59)

The dispute resolving solution as presented above can be very effective if Muslims have a consensus on The Qur'an (consensus already there) and the Authentic Hadith body i.e. they all have a consensus on the authenticity of all the authentic Hadith (number, range, priority etc...) and have a consensus on the inauthenticity of all the inauthentic Hadith.

But, for the normal Muslims, who are not scholars, the following question and its answer are to be noted and understood.

The following has been copied from:

The authors of the Six Books

Question:
Who are the authors of the Six Books, and are there any daeef (weak) ahaadeeth in their books?

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

The authors of the Six Books are:

1-     Imam al-Bukhaari

2-     Imam Muslim

3-     Imam Abu Dawood

4-     Imam al-Tirmidhi

5-     Imam al-Nasaai

6-     Imaam Ibn Maajah

There follow brief details about each of them.

1 Imam al-Bukhaari

His full name was Abu Abd-Allaah Muhammad ibn Ismaaeel ibn Ibraaheem ibn al-Mugheerah ibn Bardizbah al-Jafi al-Bukhaari. His grandfather al-Mugheerah was a freed slave of al-Yamaan al-Jafi, the governor of Bukhaarah, so he took his name after he became Muslim. Imam al-Bukhaari was born in Bukhaara in 194 AH. He grew up an orphan and started to memorize ahaadeeth before he was ten years old. When he was a young man he set out to travel to Makkah and perform the obligation of Hajj. He stayed in Makkah for a while, studying under the imams of fiqh, usool and hadeeth. Then he began to travel around, going from one Islamic region to another, for sixteen years in all. He visited many centers of knowledge where he collected ahaadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) until he had compiled more than 600,000 ahaadeeth. He referred to one thousand scholars of hadeeth and discussed these reports with them. These scholars were people who were known for their sincerity, piety and sound belief. From this huge number of ahaadeeth he compiled his book al-Saheeh, following the most precise scientific guidelines in his research as to their authenticity and in distinguishing the saheeh (sound) from the weak, and in finding out about the narrators, until he recorded in his book the most sound of the sound, although it does not contain all the saheeh ahaadeeth. The books full title is al-Jaami al-Saheeh al-Musnad min Hadeeth Rasool-Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wa Sunanihi wa Ayaamihi

The governor of Bukhaara wanted al-Bukhaari to come to his house to teach his children and read ahaadeeth to them. But al-Bukhaari refused and wrote to him: Knowledge is to be sought in its own house, meaning that knowledge is to be sought not summoned. Whoever wanted to learn from the scholars should go to them in the mosque or in their houses. So the governor bore a grudge against him and ordered that he be expelled from Bukhaara. So he went to the village of Khartank which is near Samarqand, where he had relatives, and he settled there until he died in 256 AH at the age of 62. May Allaah have mercy upon him.

2 Imam Muslim

His full name was Muslim ibn al-Hajjaaj ibn Muslim al-Qushayri al-Nisapoori Abul-Husayn. He is one of the leading scholars of hadeeth and one of the most knowledgeable. He was born in Nisapoor on the day that Imam al-Shaafai died in 204 AH. He studied in Nisapoor, and when he grew up he traveled to Iraq and the Hijaaz to learn hadeeth. He heard ahaadeeth from many shaykhs, and many scholars of hadeeth narrated from him. The most famous of his books is his Saheeh which is known as Saheeh Muslim. This is one of the six reliable books of hadeeth. He spent nearly fifteen years compiling this book, which is second only to Saheeh al-Bukhaari in status and in the strength of its ahaadeeth. Many scholars have written commentaries on his Saheeh

His books also include Kitaab al-Tabaqaat, Kitaab al-Jaami and Kitaab al-Asma, and others which exist in printed and manuscript form. He died in the city of Nasarabad, near Nisapoor, in 261 AH, at the age of 57. May Allaah have mercy on him.

3 Imam Abu Dawood

His full name was Sulaymaan ibn al-Ashath ibn Shaddaad ibn Amr ibn Ishaaq ibn Basheer al-Azdi al-Sajistani, from Sajistan. Abu Dawood was the leading hadeeth scholar of his age. He is the author of al-Sunan, which is one of the six reliable books of hadeeth. He was born in 202 AH. He traveled to Baghdad where he met Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal and stayed with him; he also looked like him.  He also traveled to the Hijaz, Iraq, Khurasaan, Syria, Egypt and the borders of the Islamic world. Al-Nasaai, al-Tirmidhi and others narrated hadeeth from him. He attained the highest degree of piety and righteousness. His book al-Sunan includes more than 5300 ahaadeeth.

The caliph Abu Ahmad Talhah (al-Muwaffaq al-Abbaasi) asked three things of him: the first was that he should move to Basrah and settle there, so that seekers of knowledge could come to him, thus bringing more people to settle there. The second was that he should teach al-Sunan to his children. The third was that he should give exclusive classes to his children, for the children of the caliph should not sit with the common people. Abu Dawood said to him: As for the first, yes; as for the second, yes; as for the third, no way, because all people are equal when it comes to knowledge. So the sons of al-Muwaffaq al-Abbaasi used to attend his lessons, and they would sit with a screen between them and the people. He remained in Basrah until he died in 275 AH. May Allaah have mercy on him.

4 Imam al-Tirmidhi

His full name was Muhammad ibn Eesa ibn Soorah ibn Moosa ibn al-Dahhaak al-Salami al-Tirmidhi, Abu Eesa. He came from Tirmidh, once of the cities of Transoxiana, after which he was named. He was one of the leading scholars of hadeeth and memorization of hadeeth. He was born in 209 AH and studied under al-Bukhaari; they had some of the same teachers. He began to seek ahaadeeth by travelling to Khurasaan, Iraq and the Hijaz. He became famous for his memorization of hadeeth, trustworthiness and knowledge.  His shaykhs included Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Abu Dawood al-Sajistani. He compiled al-Jaami which is counted as one of the six reliable books of hadeeth. In this book he examined the ahaadeeth in detail, which is of benefit to students of fiqh, because he mentions the ahaadeeth and most of his ahaadeeth deal with rulings of fiqh. He mentions the isnaads and lists the Sahaabah who narrated the hadeeth, so what he believes is saheeh he says is saheeh, and what he believes is daeef he says is daeef. He explains who among the fuqaha accepted the hadeeth and who did not. His Jaami is the most comprehensive of the books of al-Sunan, and is the most useful to the muhaddith (hadeeth scholar) and faqeeh. His other works include Kitaab al-Shamaail al-Nabawiyyah and al-Ilal fil-Hadeeth. He was blind for the latter part of his life, after he had travelled around and compiled saheeh reports from prominent and well-versed scholars. He died in 279 AH at the age of 70. May Allaah have mercy on him.

5 Imam al-Nasaai

His full name was Ahmad ibn Shuayb ibn Ali ibn Sinaan ibn Bahr ibn Dinar al-Nasaai, Abu Abd al-Rahmaan. He came from the city of Nasa in Khurasaan, after which he was named (Nasawi or Nasaai). He was born in 215 AH, and he was one of the leading scholars and muhaddiths of his time. His comments on al-jarh wal-tadeel (the study of the soundness or otherwise of narrators of hadeeth) are highly esteemed by the scholars. Al-Haakim said: I heard Abul-Hasan al-Daaraqutni say more than once, Abu Abd al-Rahmaan is the foremost among all scholars of hadeeth, and he is the best evaluator of narrators of his time.

He was extremely pious and righteous, and he used to regularly observe the best kind of fasting (the fasting of Dawood), he used to fast on alternate days. He lived in Egypt, where his books became famous and people learned from him. Then he moved to Damascus, where he died on Monday 13 Safar 300 AH, at the age of 85. May Allaah have mercy on him.

6 Imam Ibn Maajah

His full name was Muhammad ibn Yazeed al-Rabi al-Qazwayni, Abu Abd-Allaah. His father Yazeed was known as Maajah, so he was known as Ibn Maajah. The name al-Rabi refers to Rabeeah, after whom he was named because his father was a freed slave of Rabeeah . He was a famous hafiz and the author of the book of hadeeth called al-Sunan. He was born in Qazwayn, after which he was named, in 209 AH. He travelled to Iraq, Basrah, Kufa, Baghdad, Makkah, Syria, Egypt and al-Rai to write down hadeeth. He wrote three books during his travels: a book on Tafseer; a book on history, in which he compiled the reports of men who had written down reports of the Sunnah from the time of the Sahaabah until his own time; and his book al-Sunan. Ibn Maajah died on Monday 22 Ramadaan 273 AH, at the age of 64. May Allaah have mercy on him.

Ruling on the ahaadeeth in these books:

With regard to Saheeh al-Bukhaari and Saheeh Muslim, the ummah accepts the ahaadeeth that are contained in these books, and they are agreed that everything in them is saheeh apart from a very few phrases which al-Bukhaari and Muslim narrated in order to explain why they are not sound, either explicitly or implicitly, as the scholars who wrote commentaries on these two books, such as Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him), have explained. With regard to the other books of Sunan, they are not free of some daeef (weak) ahaadeeth here and there. Some of them are noted as such by the authors themselves, and others have been pointed out by other scholars. They did not point out all the weak ahaadeeth, because they narrated the ahaadeeth with their isnaads, so it is easy for the scholars to tell the saheeh ahaadeeth from the daeef by checking the chain of narrators and knowing who is reliable and who is weak.

Among the famous scholars in this field were Ahmad, al-Daraqutni, Yahya ibn Maeen, Ibn Hajar, al-Dhahabi, al-Waaqi and al-Sakhaawi. Among the contemporary scholars in this field are al-Albaani, Ahmad Shaakir and others. May Allaah have mercy on them all.

And Allaah knows best.

Islam Q&A
Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

Now a portion I higlhlighted above i.e. :

...Among the famous scholars in this field were Ahmad, al-Daraqutni, Yahya ibn Maeen, Ibn Hajar, al-Dhahabi, al-Waaqi and al-Sakhaawi. Among the contemporary scholars in this field are al-Albaani, Ahmad Shaakir and others. May Allaah have mercy on them all...

Gives the names of famous scholars who did cecking of Hadith.

Besides the collections mentioned above there are also other Hadith Books from which Authentic Hadith can be used.

Dar-us-salam has sufficient worldly business and is making alot of money selling Islamic books in the name of Islam.

If Dar-us-salam has any kind of shame and concern for Islam, it must offer its upcoming English translation of the Six popular Hadith books freely online for free download and access on the internet.

Now the books which are planned to be published must have been written on computer text formats which can easily be offered freely online. They will send the soft copy or software version to publishers, and this software version i.e. text and pdf and searchable software program can be easily offered for free download access online via internet.

For details of this upcoming Dar-us-salam release visit

http://www.dar-us-salam.com/SihahSittahEnglish.html

Pressurize Dar-us-salam via demand pressure and scholars like Dr Zakir Naik to offer all these 6 books freely online for free download and access.

What will internet users get freely if Dar-us-Salam takes shame and realizes that it must offer the 6 popular Hadith books in English freely online on internet and realize that Islam is more important than petty worldly benefits, the users can get freely the Siha Sitta in English Insha'ALLAH!

I think Dr Zakir Naik is also related to India branch of Dar-us-salam and he can be used to publicly expose Dar-us-Salam via Peace TV if it refuses even his request to offer all the Siha Sitta Books in English complete with each and every word as in the printed edition.

The following message has been copy pasted from Dar-us-salam just as a preview of what users can get if they succeed in pressurizing Dar-us-Salam to offer all this freely online on internet for free download, search and access.

Dar-us-salam says on

"Great News for the Seekers of Knowledge!

For the first time in the history of Islam, the most authentic six books of hadith are translated in English language.

The international publishing house DARUSSALAM (RIYADH), known for its focus on important classical Islamic works, renowned for their publications of the Noble Quran English translation of the Quran, and the ten volume English translation of the Tafsir of Ibn Kathir, and the nine volume English translation of Sahih al-Bukhari, is grateful to announce the publication of the English translations of the remaining five, of the Six Famous Books of Hadith, collections commonly known as Saha Sittah (The Six Books).

The first of these to be completed for distribution is Sunan Ibn Majah, which is available in five volumes, totaling 2678 pages. Thereafter, the complete translation of Sahih Muslim in 7 volumes, totaling 3758 pages, Sunan at-Tirmidhi in six volumes, Sunan an-Nasai in 6 volumes, and Sunan Abu Dawud in 5 volumes, remaining each volume more than 530 pages.

Including the previously published English translation of the nine volume set of Sahih al-Bukhari, the entire collection of the translation of the Six Books of Hadith will span 38 volumes.

For the first time in history, English readers will have access to every single hadith in the entire Six Books collection.

This is a landmark event in the progress of Islamic publishing in the English language, and a welcomed indication of the spread of Islam, and the demand for authentic books in English, as well as other languages.

This announcement was made by Mr. Abdul Malik Mujahid, the general manager of Darussalam publishers and distributors.

According to Mr. Abdul Malik Mujahid General Manager of Darussalam Publications, this project should be available in the market by the end of November 2007, before Hajj (in KSA). He reminds that this is the real heritage of the Muslim Ummah and every library, information center mosques and Islamic center is in need of these authentic sources of Islam.

Moreover, he said, in an interview that maximum efforts have been put to keep this project free of errors with more than 5 years and a highly qualified team from different parts of the world who have participated to complete this project.

He ensures that the people who are seeking knowledge and love the Prophets traditions (hadith), will appreciate this project, by the Will of Allah.

HISTORY OF THE PUBLICATIONS

The translations of the remaining five of the Six Books, were based upon Darussalams previously published Arabic editions of the Six Books.

These Arabic texts were verified by a team of scholars, under the supervision of Shaykh Salih bin `Abdul-`Aziz Aal ash-Shaykh, the head of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The verification process was based upon the most important previously published editions and manuscripts, from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, and Turkey, as well as other lands.

For over five years, a grand team of highly qualified translators and editors, from various nations reaching across the globe from Saudi Arabia to America, worked on bringing these texts among the Usul (fundamental texts) of Islam into a clear, refined and precise English translation, so that the average English reader may have access to these important Islamic texts that were otherwise never made available to them in their entirety.

While in the past, companies have marketed software for computers that left the English readers with the impression that they contained the narrations of all of these books, the truth is that these programs and collections contained only some of these narrations, being taken from other collections, like translations of Mishkat al-Masabih, for example. Additionally, the advent of the internet and the circulation of these narrations found in these poorly translated software compilations, which were improperly referenced be it the numbering system used, or the actual source texts from which they were portrayed to be derived has lead to a great deal of confusion among the English readers.

Only with the complete translations of the Six Books and in the form compiled by the illustrious Imams of Hadith could the English readers truly get to the source of the hadiths of the Noble Messenger, Muhammad (sall Allahu `alaihi wa sallam), and the understanding of the blessed religion of Islam, passed down by the righteous predecessors, generation after generation through chains of narration.

VALUABLE COMMENTARY AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TRANSLATIONS

After the painstaking efforts to translate these five collections into the English language, each with introductions, the translations underwent the process of proof-editing. Each page contains a column for the translation, next to a column for the Arabic text, with complete vowel markings. Then, along with the translators footnotes for important matters, an additional valuable commentary was added, in order to explain important matters that may not be clear to the English readers. The commentary also has the added benefit of indicating the appropriate application of the hadiths to modern dilemmas which Muslims struggle with in various parts of the Islamic world.

Since Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are the only hadith collections in which every hadith is authentic, and the Four Sunan compilations will invariably contain some weak narrations according to the grading systems of the great scholars of Hadith the grade for each hadith in the Four Sunan compilations has been provided, from the Arabic work compiled by the Honorable Shaykh Zubayr `Ali Za`i, and included in the translation of each of the Four Sunans, clearly mentioning the grade after each and every hadith.

With these added benefits, the English readers will finally have access to an authentic translation of all of the hadiths in the Six Books collection along with important commentary, an indication of which narrations are authentic and which are not authentic, side by side with the Arabic text and complete vowel markings.

Indeed all praise is due to Allah, who has facilitated that this noble endeavor be brought to fruition in pursuit of serving the teachings of the Quran, the Book of Allah the Most Exalted and the Sunnah of His Messenger (sall Allahu `alaihi wa sallam).

AVAILABILITY

All the books are expected to be published by the end of 2007 and will be available online (Houston, Texas, USA Branch) in the 2nd quarter of 2008, Insha-Allah. To be notified of their arrival please subscribe to our Newsletter or keep checking our website www.Dar-us-Salam.com for updates. "

The following has been copied from:

http://www.islamworlduk.com/scripts/openExtra.asp?extra=15

Indicates a few other Hadith books to be worked on immediately:

7 - Al-Muwatta
Written by Imam Malik ibn Anas, Born 93H in Madina. He is one of the 4 leading Sunni Imams. His book is one of the earliest works on Hadith, and almost all the narrations mentioned in it are authentic, but because it also contains many of Malik's fatwas, some scholars consider it to be more of a fiqh book rather than Hadith collection, others however consider it to be the sixth book of the sahihs due to the existence of very weak Hadiths in Sunan ibn Majah.

8 - Musnad Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal
Imam Ahmad was the fourth Fiqh Imam. Born in Baghdad 164H. Amongst his students were Ash-Shafee, Bukhari and Muslim. His book contains more than 35,000 Hadith. It was a reference to all Hadith books to follow.

9-Sunan Ad-Darimee
Abdul-Allah ibn Abdul-Rahman Ad-Darimee. B born 181H. His book has more authentic narrations than Ibn Majah's, and is considered by scholars as Sahih Ad-Darimee.

10-Sahih ibn Khuzaima
Mohammad ibn Ishaq ibn Khuzaima, Born 223H. One of the leading scholars of his time. His book contains many authentic narrations with some weak ones.

11-Sahih ibn Habban
Mohammad ibn Habban was born towards the end of the third century H.
His book is one of the most famous books because of the amount of authentic Hadith in it.

After Dar us Salam successfully launches the English translations of the 6 books as indicated in the first post, as many people as possible must pressurize Dar us Salam to also translate and publish the translation along with gradation the other available Hadith books 1 by 1 based on importance.

Publishing the translations of the 6 sound books will not be enough and will not stop Muslims from quoting Hadith from other Hadith collections and it is their right to quote authentic Hadith from other Hadith collections, but if the translations and gradation are published in English for all available Hadith, it will be easy for a common Muslim to verify every Hadith used during lectures, etc... and verify himself the authenticity status of a Hadith the scholar used to support his claim and that can also help make scholars more serious while quoting Hadith since then they will know that the translations and gradations of all Hadith books are available in English and that will force them to verify Hadith themselves and quote Hadith with the due care these Noble sayings deserve.
