The Jewish Encyclopedia entry on "Amorites" reads in part:
Thus, according to the Jewish Encyclopedia, Jewish lore holds that the unholy pagan witchcraft and sorcery books and idols of the Amorites were incorporated into the structure of Solomon's Temple in Jebus / Jerusalem. Does this not have an obvious interpretation? Namely, that the Temple of Jebus / Jerusalem and all that that symbolizes was built upon pagan roots? How can the Temple of Jebus be holy if it incorporates Amorite witchcraft idols? Moreover, the "12 precious stones engraved with the names of the tribes of Israel" is a clear reference to the Ephod worn by the High Priest with its 12 Shamran (sp?) stones. That is, the full impact of the pagan impurity was concentrated in, of all places, in the High Priest himself. |
