The setting up of independent Muslim states in the middle of Europe, and the possibility that these might form a union amongst themselves, meant Islamic civilization coming closer to Christian heartland. For that reason, the Muslims in the Balkans were subjected to genocide by Christian Serbs, with open and secret encouragement by the effective anti-Islamic Judeo-Christian lobbies in certain Western countries. When Sarajevo became part of Ottoman territory in 1463 it also came into contact with Islam, and it remained an Ottoman domain for some 400 years. Throughout this time the Slavs, linked to a Christian sect, persecuted by the Catholic Church as heretic, called the Bogomils and living in the area of Bosnia-Herzegovina, turned to Islam of their own free will. With the 1878 Treaty of Berlin, Bosnia was given over to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, although in effect it still remained part of the Ottoman territories until 1908, when Muslim rule was abolished. After WW I the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia was established, thus bringing together all Slav communities in the region. Bosnia-Herzegovina was ruled by this kingdom. In 1929, the kingdom fell into the hands of Orthodox Christian Serbs. Until WW II, Bosnian Muslims had their goods and property stolen and were kept under close watch. During WW II, the region was occupied by the Germans. The war years saw 100,000 Muslims killed in attacks on Bosnian towns and villages by ultra-nationalist Serbian partisans (Chetniks). After the defeat of Germany, the communists took over the empire. The persecution of Muslims began anew under the communist regime of Tito. Following the collapse of communist rule, like the other five federated States of Yugoslavia, declared independence and was given recognition by the UNO. However, the Christian Serb community refused to live under Muslim majority and occupied the country with the help of Yugoslavian Serb army and began three years of slaughter. Some 200,000 Bosnian Muslims were killed, 60,000 Muslim women raped, and over two million Muslims were forced to flee to the neighboring countries. Muslims sent to Serbian concentration camps were subjected to torture worse than the world saw under Nazi Germany. Muslim women and girls as young as 9-years were gang-raped, and peoples throat slashed and left them bleed to death. The main target of Serb butchers was the religious leaders, the university professors, doctors, and the political leaders. Roughly, the Serbs destroyed 179 mosques and 46 churches 156 mosque Imams were murdered. The main idea was to cripple the Muslim majority in every aspect of life. |

And who put and end to this???? Who stepped up and confronted the Serbs????? It was us evil Americans. While the whole of Europe stood by protesting saying Americans are warmongers(kinda like now).America and England stepped up. Funny how the entire Muslim world forgot. In fact claim the Americans are out to destroy Islam.OK then why save the Bosnians? But we did. |

My friend Mark still has nightmares of the horrors he saw there defending the muslims of Bosnia. He had a severe flashback as recently as December when the snow had fallen here and a Blackhawk from Hill AFB flew over head. Let us never forget the horrors of WWII or the Bosnian Genocides. Lets pray for the souls of those that didn't make it and those that survived. As Americans, we shouldn't ask for thanks when we help. We should strive to do good no matter what, and if that means disagreeing with the actions of our current administration. Then so be it. |
