"Arab" is a culture, language and a race. Culturally many people across the Middle East and North Africa consider themselves Arabs. Arabic is the official language of many countries, however, there are variations in dialects. Racially, the people of the Arabia are considered to be the purest Arabs.

What's interesting is that "Arabs and Jews are essentially a single population, and that Palestinians are slap bang in the middle of the different Jewish populations (as shown in this figure)...
Entire article here:
Click on the chart for a closeup view of the various Jewish and Arab populations and how closely they are related.
There are many, many other articles on the web which discuss the close genetic heritage shared by Jews and Arabs. Alas, the fact that we now know for certain that Jews and Arabs are genetic brothers doesn't seem to have made the Middle East any more peaceful than it was. Good point, Reepicheep. This fits with Arabic and Hebrew being closely related languages. If Arabs became true friends of the Jews in Israel, Arab economies would be booming and Arab universities would become top notch seeking the academic exchange with Israeli universities. Yet the majority of Arabs still think it makes more sense to consider Jews and Israel their enemy.

Please enlighten us. Why is this such an important question, purely out of curiousity? Edited by TG12345 - 09 August 2013 at 3:56pm |

I assume you mean genetically? If that is what you mean that there has been very long journey of genes / DNA for the past millions of years. Even the oldest group known today - the Australian Aborigines - they were not from Australia, so the expert said. And what they were called back then when even the language to communicate was not developed like today? Did they even bother with names? So when come to the Arab, who decide that this group is Arab and this one African and this group is European for that matter? What formula we going to use to decide who is who? But before all that, who am I to start with? ![]() |
