Great story,
and my family is part of it. We have four kids that we are home schooling, and it is great, Alhumdolilah. Yes, a few draw backs on the social end, but the benefits and rewards are much much great. And a huge commitment and hard work is the key on the part of everyone involved. Hasan |

Salam Brother,
private Islamic schools are good options when they are near and affordable. Since we move a lot, home schooling worked the best so far. Our kids just enrolled in Connections Academy, which is home based but paid for like public school. They did a placement test for each kid, and since my kids excel in their grades they placed them in the grade where they belonged. For example my 8 yrs old is in enrolled in 5th grade. They sent her all books and material, including a computer, she is very excited. Public school from the comfort of your home without the negative stuff. Alhumdolillah. Hasan |

Home schooling might work, but there are also dangers related to it. What if kids are taught religious extremism? Supervision of the curriculum and content is key.

Not only that if parents are home schooling their kids what if they themselves don't have adequate understanding of the subject material they teach their kids?

75% of homeschooled kids in the US are from evangelical Christian families. Where I'm from it was only white hippie Hindus who did homeschooling. Everyone has an agenda, it seems, and ideological parents don't want public schools brainwashing their kids.
I hope to homeschool my kids when they're big enough. I went to public school and I wouldn't wish that experience for anyone. Especially my kids. |
