Asalaamu alaikum: Jazakallah Khair for the wonderful link! Excellent point, Br. Peacemaker. As a nurse who has been in the field for many years including 3 years in the local health department in public health nursing handwashing is vital to good health and prevents the spread of many communicable diseases.
That is the wonder of performing Wudu, it is so proven by the knowledge of today. Cleaning the hands regularly after toilet functions keeps one from picking up unfriendly bacteria from your intestinal tract. Cleaning the inside of the nose by inhaling the water up the nostrils helps dislodge allergens and airborne bacteria that could transmit viruses. Caring for ones feet inproves your overalll mental and physical health. And the benefits go on and on. Not eating foods tainted or contaminated by illegal kill, strangulation, or blood keeps us from contracting even more horrid disease! By not eating pork, we escape sicknesses associated with salmonella,Trichamonis and other bacteria harbored in Pork products. We don't get the social diseases and physical diseases associated with alcohol use because it too is haram. Oh the wonders that following the teachings of the Qur'an Sunnah and hadith! As it says in the ayats: 4:26 Allah doth wish to make clear to you and to show you the ordinances of those before you; and (He doth wish to) turn to you (In Mercy): And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise. 4:43 O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again. 7:32 Say: Who hath forbidden the beautiful (gifts) of Allah, which He hath produced for His servants, and the things, clean and pure, (which He hath provided) for sustenance? Say: They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) purely for them on the Day of Judgment. Thus do We explain the signs in detail for those who understand.
"Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena!"

Bismillah and Salaams, So in the current pandemic flu training sessions going around the country, America, they show a video of a person washing their hands and say, "Make sure to wash well in between the fingers and past the wrists for better cleanliness and protection." Sounds like good, familiar advice to me! |

Walaikum Salam, Yes, Sister, these are only those benefits that we are aware of at this point. Only Allah knows how many other benefits are there that we may know later, or may never know at all. Scientific progress is normally gradual, but here we have something that was dictated to us more than 1400 years back, and even at this point, it appears so modern. May Allah guide us all. Peace |

I figured he was referring to tahajjud/qiyamul-layl. Guess there's only one way to know for sure. |
