1144 years ago, specifically on Ramadan 14, 359 Hijri (971 A.D.) that the third oldest university and the longest running educational institution was founded in Egypt. Al Azhar university was built during the Fatimid dynasty and was initially a mosque and a religious education center, but later converted to an educational institution.
