Biayyikumu almaftoonu

which of you was bereft of reason. - 68:6 (Asad) -

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ (68:7)

Inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bialmuhtadeena

فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ (68:8)

Fala tutiAAi almukaththibeena

Waddoo law tudhinu fayudhinoona

they would like thee to be soft [with them], so that they might be soft [with thee]. - 68:9 (Asad) -

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ (68:10)

MannaAAin lilkhayri muAAtadin atheemin

[or] the withholder of good, [or] the sinful aggressor, - 68:12 (Asad) -

عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ زَنِيمٍ (68:13)

AAutullin baAAda thalika zaneemin

[or] one who is cruel, by greed possessed, and, in addition to all this, utterly useless [to his fellow-men]. - 68:13 (Asad) -

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ (68:14)

Sanasimuhu AAala alkhurtoomi

[For this] We shall brand him with indelible disgrace! - 68:16 (Asad) -

إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ (68:17)

Inna balawnahum kama balawna ashaba aljannati ith aqsamoo layasrimunnaha musbiheena

قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ (68:29)

Qaloo subhana rabbina inna kunna thalimeena

Qaloo ya waylana inna kunna tagheena

عَسَى رَبُّنَا أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ (68:32)

AAasa rabbuna an yubdilana khayran minha inna ila rabbina raghiboona

كَذَلِكَ الْعَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ (68:33)

Kathalika alAAathabu walaAAathabu alakhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ (68:34)

Inna lilmuttaqeena AAinda rabbihim jannati alnnaAAeemi

أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ (68:35)

AfanajAAalu almuslimeena kaalmujrimeena

or should We, perchance, treat those who surrender themselves unto Us as [We would treat] those who remain lost in sin? - 68:35 (Asad) -

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ (68:36)

Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona

What is amiss with you? On what do you base your judgment [of right and wrong]? - 68:36 (Asad) -

أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ (68:37)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Am lakum kitabun feehi tadrusoona

Or have you, perchance, a [special] divine writ which you study, - 68:37 (Asad) -

إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمََا تَخَيَّرُونَ (68:38)

Inna lakum feehi lama takhayyaroona

and in which you find all that you may wish to find? - 68:38 (Asad) -

أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ (68:39)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Am lakum aymanun AAalayna balighatun ila yawmi alqiyamati inna lakum lama tahkumoona

Or have you received a solemn promise, binding on Us till Resurrection Day, that yours will assuredly be whatever you judge [to be your rightful due]? - 68:39 (Asad) -

سَلْهُم أَيُّهُم بِذَلِكَ زَعِيمٌ (68:40)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Salhum ayyuhum bithalika zaAAeemun

Ask them which of them is able to vouch for this! - 68:40 (Asad) -

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاء فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ (68:41)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Am lahum shurakao falyatoo bishurakaihim in kanoo sadiqeena

Or have they, perchance, anys ages to support their views? Well, then, if they are sincere in this their claim, let them produce those supporters of theirs - 68:41 (Asad) -

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ (68:42)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Yawma yukshafu AAan saqin wayudAAawna ila alssujoodi fala yastateeAAoona

on the Day when man's very being shall be bared to the bone, and when they [who now deny the truth] shall be called upon to prostrate themselves [before God], and shall be unable to do so: - 68:42 (Asad) -

خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ (68:43)

KhashiAAatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun waqad kanoo yudAAawna ila alssujoodi wahum salimoona

downcast will be their eyes, with ignominy overwhelming them - seeing that they had been called upon [in vain] to prostrate themselves [before Him] while they were yet sound [and alive]. - 68:43 (Asad) -

فَذَرْنِي وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ (68:44)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Fatharnee waman yukaththibu bihatha alhadeethi sanastadrijuhum min haythu la yaAAlamoona

Hence, leave Me alone with such as give the lie to this tiding. We shall bring them low, step by step, without their perceiving how it has come about: - 68:44 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qalam (The Pen) - 68:45 
وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ (68:45)

Waomlee lahum inna kaydee mateenun

for, behold, though I may give them rein for a while, My subtle scheme is exceedingly firm! - 68:45 (Asad) -

أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ (68:46)

Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ (68:47)

Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboona

Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? - 68:47 (Asad) -

فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَى وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ (68:48)

Faisbir lihukmi rabbika wala takun kasahibi alhooti ith nada wahuwa makthoomun

لَوْلَا أَن تَدَارَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاء وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ (68:49)

Lawla an tadarakahu niAAmatun min rabbihi lanubitha bialAAarai wahuwa mathmoomun

[Dhu al Nun] [Jonah] [Righteous:Righteous the]

but [as it was,] his Sustainer had elected him and placed him among the righteous. - 68:50 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qalam (The Pen) - 68:51 
وَإِن يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ (68:51)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Wain yakadu allatheena kafaroo layuzliqoonaka biabsarihim lamma samiAAoo alththikra wayaqooloona innahu lamajnoonun

Hence, [be patient,] even though they who are bent on denying the truth would all but kill thee with their eyes whenever they hear this reminder, and [though] they say, "[As for Mubammad,] behold, most surely he is a madman!" - 68:51 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qalam (The Pen) - 68:52 
وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ (68:52)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Wama huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
