Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:1 
اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ (54:1)

Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaru

THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! - 54:1 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:2 
وَإِن يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ (54:2)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Wain yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun

But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach], they would turn aside and say, “An ever-recurring delusion!” – - 54:2 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:3 
وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءهُمْ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ (54:3)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrun

for they are bent on giving it the lie, being always wont to follow their own desires. Yet everything reveals its truth in the end. - 54:3 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:4 
وَلَقَدْ جَاءهُم مِّنَ الْأَنبَاء مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ (54:4)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Walaqad jaahum mina alanbai ma feehi muzdajarun

And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: - 54:4 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:5 
حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ (54:5)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Hikmatun balighatun fama tughnee alnnuthuru

far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, - 54:5 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:6 
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَى شَيْءٍ نُّكُرٍ (54:6)

Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu alddaAAi ila shayin nukurin

خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ (54:7)

KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoona mina alajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashirun

مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ (54:8)

MuhtiAAeena ila alddaAAi yaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasirun

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ (54:9)

Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin fakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun waizdujira

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانتَصِرْ (54:10)

وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاء عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ (54:12)

Wafajjarna alarda AAuyoonan failtaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudira

وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَى ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ (54:13)

Wahamalnahu AAala thati alwahin wadusurin

تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاء لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ (54:14)

Tajree biaAAyunina jazaan liman kana kufira

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ (54:15)

Walaqad taraknaha ayatan fahal min muddakirin

And, indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? - 54:15 (Asad) -

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (54:16)

Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri

And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! - 54:16 (Asad) -

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ (54:17)

Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (54:18)

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ (54:19)

Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin

تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ (54:20)

Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin

Hence, indeed, We made this Qur’an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? - 54:22 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:23 
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ (54:23)

Kaththabat thamoodu bialnnuthuri

فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ (54:24)

Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidan nattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalin wasuAAurin

and they said: “Are we to follow one single mortal, one from among ourselves? In that case, behold, we would certainly sink into error and folly! - 54:24 (Asad) -

أَؤُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِن بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ (54:25)

Aolqiya alththikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashirun

Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!” - 54:25 (Asad) -

سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ (54:26)

SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabu alashiru

إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ (54:27)

Inna mursiloo alnnaqati fitnatan lahum fairtaqibhum waistabir

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاء قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ (54:28)

Wanabbihum anna almaa qismatun baynahum kullu shirbin muhtadarun

فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَى فَعَقَرَ (54:29)

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ (54:31)

Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathiri

Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment], and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. - 54:31 (Asad) -

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ نَّجَّيْنَاهُم بِسَحَرٍ (54:34)

Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharin

[and so,] behold, We let loose upon them a deadly tempest; and only Lot ’s kinsfolk did We save at the break of dawn, - 54:34 (Asad) -

نِعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي مَن شَكَرَ (54:35)

NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalika najzee man shakara

وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ (54:36)

Walaqad antharahum batshatana fatamaraw bialnnuthuri

وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (54:37)

Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihi fatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri

وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ (54:38)

Walaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrun

Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna alnnuthuru

كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ (54:42)

Kaththaboo biayatina kulliha faakhathnahum akhtha AAazeezin muqtadirin

أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُوْلَئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ (54:43)

Akuffarukum khayrun min olaikum am lakum baraatun fee alzzuburi

ARE, THEN, those of you who [now] deny the truth better than those others - or have you, per­chance, [been promised] immunity in the [ancient] books of [divine] wisdom? - 54:43 (Asad) -

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ (54:44)

Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasirun

Or do they say, “We are a group united, [and therefore] bound to prevail”? - 54:44 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:45 
سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ (54:45)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona alddubura

[Yet] the hosts [of those who deny the truth] shall be routed, and they shall turn their backs [in flight]! - 54:45 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:46 
بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَى وَأَمَرُّ (54:46)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Bali alssaAAatu mawAAiduhum waalssaAAatu adha waamarru

But nay - the Last Hour is the time when they shall truly meet their fate; and that Last Hour will be most calamitous, and most bitter: - 54:46 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:47 
إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ (54:47)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Inna almujrimeena fee dalalin wasuAAurin

for, behold, those who are lost in sin [will at that time come to know that it is they who] were sunk in error and folly! - 54:47 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:48 
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ (54:48)

Yawma yushaboona fee alnnari AAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqara

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ (54:49)

Inna kulla shayin khalaqnahu biqadarin

Wama amruna illa wahidatun kalamhin bialbasari

Walaqad ahlakna ashyaAAakum fahal min muddakirin

وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِي الزُّبُرِ (54:52)

Wakullu shayin faAAaloohu fee alzzuburi

[They were truly guilty] because all [the evil] that they ever did had been [revealed to them as such] in the [ancient] books of [divine] wisdom; - 54:52 (Asad) -   


 
Al-Qamar (The Moon) - 54:53 
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُسْتَطَرٌ (54:53)

Basit -   Hussari -   Minshawi -  f

Wakullu sagheerin wakabeerin mustatarun

Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaharin
