6 Simple Tips for an Accepted Hajj

Below are some simple tips for a Hajj Mabrour and advice as articulated by the Proof of Islam, Imam Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali in his book, The Forty Principles of Religion.

  1. Take a righteous friend and halal spending money on the journey of Hajj. Halal provisions illuminate the heart and a righteous friend reminds one to do good and avoid evil.
  2. Remove any concerns for business transactions or gaining wealth so the mind is not preoccupied with profits and the heart is clear.
  3. Share food on the road and speak well to traveling companions.
  4. Leave using profanity, arguing, idle chat, or discussion of other worldly affairs. Restrict the tongue to - aside from expressing your needs - remembrance and recitation of the Quran.
  5. Keep a simple appearance as opposed to being dressed up.
  6. Be cheerful about whatever money you spend and whatever fatigue or losses come your way. See these as a sign of the acceptance of Hajj and thus expect reward for it.
