Rescue crews continued the search for survivors amid the wreckage of a partial building collapse in Surfside, Florida on Friday (June 25, 2021).
Four people were confirmed dead and 159 were still missing as of Friday morning, after a wing of the 12-story residential building went down around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Governor Ron DeSantis said search and rescue crew have been working "non-stop" throughout the night and called it a "very, very difficult situation," with many people still not knowing where their loved ones are.
It's not known what caused the 40-year-old high-rise to cave in, although local officials said the tower was undergoing roof construction and other repairs.
