A Call of Peace to the Israelis

Category: Americas, Faith & Spirituality, Life & Society Topics: Jews Values: Peace

These days the Middle East is once again the scene of bloodshed. Israeli troops are employing the most ruthless and cruel methods against Palestinians. The Israeli Army is ruthlessly bombing Palestinian settlements, shooting at children and trying to make Palestine uninhabitable. Some Palestinian radicals, on the other hand, are attacking Israeli civilian targets and spreading violence with their terrible suicide attacks aimed at women and children.

Our heartfelt wish as Muslims is for the anger and hatred on both sides to die down, for the bloodshed to stop and for peace to come to the Middle East. We oppose both the Israeli killing of the innocent and the bombing of innocent Israelis by some radical Palestinians. In our view, the most important condition for this blind conflict to come to an end and for real peace to be established in the Middle East is for both sides to genuinely and honestly understand and implement their own beliefs.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has taken on the identity of a 'religious war' between Jews and Muslims, whereas in fact there is absolutely no reason for such a war of religion. Both Jews and Muslims believe in God, love and respect the same prophets, and possess the same moral principles. They are not enemies. On the contrary, they are allies in a world in which atheism and hatred of religion are widespread. Based on that fundamental principle, we call on the Israelis (and all Jews).

1) Muslims and Jews believe in one God, the creator of the universe and all living things. We are all God's servants, and to Him we shall return. So why hate each other? The holy books we believe in are different, but we all abide by those books because we believe they are the revelations of God. So why should we fight one another?

2) Instead of Muslims, would the Israelis rather live among atheists or pagans? The Bible is full of passages describing the terrible cruelties inflicted on the Jews by pagans. The terrible genocide and cruelty inflicted on the Jews by atheists and unbelievers (such as the Nazis, anti-Semitic racists or communist regimes such as Stalin's Russia) are clear for all to see. The atheist forces in question hated the Jews because they believed in God, and that is why they oppressed them. Are not Jews and Muslims on the same side against these atheist, communist or racist forces that hate them both?

3) Muslims and Jews love and respect the same prophets. The prophets Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Moses or David are at least as important for Muslims as they are for Jews. The lands where these holy figures lived and served God are at least as holy for Muslims as they are for Jews. So why drown those lands in blood and tears?

4) The fundamental values of Israel are also sacred to us Muslims. The word 'Israel' is the name of the Prophet Jacob, who is praised in the Quran and remembered with great respect by Muslims. The Magen David (Star of David) is the holy symbol of the prophet David for us too. According to the Quran, synagogues are places of worship that Muslims must protect. (Quran, 22:40). So why should members of the two religions not live together in peace?

5) The Torah commands Jews to establish peace and security, not to occupy other lands and spill blood. The people of Israel are described as 'a light unto the nations.' As Rabbi Dovi Weiss has said:

"The Jewish people are commanded by Almighty God to live in peace with all peoples and nations on the face of the globe. Our agenda is simple It is to humbly worship the Creator at all times. As Torah Jews we are called upon to feel and express our sense of compassion when any person or group of human beings suffers." 1

If the Israelis continue to treat the Palestinians as they are now, they may be unable to account for that to God. Those Palestinians who kill innocent Israelis, on the other hand, may be unable to account for those murders. Is it not a duty in the eyes of God to put an end to the fighting, which is dragging both sides deeper into satanic violence?

We invite all Jews to consider these facts. God commands us Muslims to invite Jews and Christians to a 'common formula':

Say, "O People of the Book! Let us rally to a common formula to be binding on both us and you: That we worship none but God; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than God." (Quran, 3:64)

This is our call to the Jews, a People of the Book: As people who believe in God and obey His commands, let us come together in the common formula of 'faith.' Let us love God, the Lord and Creator of all of us. Let us abide by His commands. Let us pray to God to lead us further on the path of righteousness. Let us bring love, compassion and peace to each other and the world, not hostility, blood and tears.

That is where the solution to the Palestinian question and other conflicts in the world lies. Come, let us find a solution together. The deaths and suffering of so many innocent people remind us every day what an urgent task this is.

How can the Palestinian Question be resolved?

Based on the principles of toleration and moderation we have outlined above, it is possible to solve the Palestinian question, which has caused so much bloodshed in the Middle East over the last 50 years. In our view, the establishment of peace depends on these two conditions:

1) Israel must immediately withdraw from all the territories it occupied during the 1967 war including East Jerusalem. The occupation that has existed since must come to an end. That is an obligation under international law, U.N. Security Council resolutions and the concept of justice. All of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip must be recognized as belonging to an independent State of Palestine.

2) East Jerusalem, which is home to the important temples of all three theistic religions must be administered by the Palestinian administration, yet this city should have an exclusive status. Jerusalem must be made a free city in which members of all three religions can carry out their obligations in peace.

When these conditions are brought about, Israelis and Palestinians will have recognized each others' right to exist, shared the Palestinian lands, and resolved the status of Jerusalem, the subject of a great argument, in a manner satisfactory to the members of all three religions.

Our hope is that the constant hostility of the last 50 years or so, the prejudice, killing and slaughter will come to an end, that the innocent Palestinian people can secure a homeland that can provide them with the peace, security and well-being they deserve, and that Israel will abandon its policy of aggression and occupation, that wrongs its own people as well as the Palestinians, thus allowing it to live in peace with its neighbors within its legal pre-1967 borders.

According to the Quran, synagogues are places of worship that Muslims must protect.

Yada, Yada, Yada. If so, and if the Muslims and Jews worship the same God and hold all the same values as the article suggests, then why are Jews prohibited by Muslims from praying and worshiping the same God on the temple mount?

The bottom line to the article is in the last sentence which is that the Jews should return Israel to it's pre 1967 borders... and commit national suicide by doing so.

I am not saying that I don't like the article. I do, because it shows why there will be the Psalms 83 war and the Gog/Magog war soon to follow.

Pali Mino is a prime example of someone mis-interpeting things in the Quran. Dear brother your comprehension level is not very good and you are sadly mis-informed. I suggest that you ask for guidance from someone with the knowledge to explain things better if you are willing to listen and learn.

(Old Testament) Deutronomy 20:16. "However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them - the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites - as the LORD your God has commanded you."

Brothers and sisters, you need to open up your Quran and learn about who these people are and why Allah cursed them in the Quran and in the old testament (Deut31:27-29). Read especially Chapters 2, 3,4,&5 of the Quran. Do not be mislead by them or by anyone else. Allah who created you and me decided who's who and as Muslims we should submit to His will. The only reason why Muslims are weak today is because of their disobedience to Allah. We became more rebellious against Allah's laws than many of the jews and hence Allah gave them the upper hand on us. The jews know this and as such they are doing all they can to kill and jail any good Muslims and are brainwashing the mass Muslim population with their movies, Music, and TV channels. Allah says: if Allah gives you victory, then no one can overcome you, and if Allah lets you down, then who can give you victory after Him? (3:160). We should therefore stop calling for a peace that can never be achieved according to Allah as revealed through the ahadith about the Dajjal (anti-Christ) and Isa (Jesus) PBUH when the jews will follow the Dajjal and will all be killed upon the descent of Isa PBUH. This will happen Inshaa Allah in the next 16 years if what the jewish books say is correct in this regard. We should repent to Allah before that happens as repentence will no longer be accepted when the big signs of the hour occur. "Quran 6:158 ...the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith."

The solution is to undo the harm that was done to Palestinians in 1948. Israel should and will cease to exist according to Islam and Judaism (Jewish religious books state that Israel will be established for 76 years and then the Jews will all be killed. In Islam the same is true when Jesus PBUH will descend). The jews can live in the Muslim nation as they did when they were prosecuted in Europe. But of course, knowing them, they won't give you a single cm of land out of their own free will. we therefore should stop dreaming and following our whims and desires and start studying the Quran and Sunnah. How can Allah give us victory if we fear men more than we fear Him? All good comes from Him and all evil is from our deeds. Muslims have Wahn in their hearts (love of this life) and that's why they (1.5Billion of us) are unable to deal with this problem (of 14Million of them). There is no hatred here, just plain truth that we muslims should not be ashamed to state. After all, the non-Muslims are the ones killing us in thousands and Millions (1300 in Gaza, 5000 in India in 2002, 1.2Million in Iraq, 100,000 in Bosnia, 100,000 in Kashmir, ?millions in Palestine, etc).

Calling for peace is not on the agenda of the zionists. Pieces yes, but never peace. the zionist plans for a Greater Israel is in full swing while the world at large watches in silence. Google zionist quotes and you will see that they want the whole of the Middle East not just Palestine. Error and Betrayal in Lebanon: An Analysis of Israel's Invasion and the Implications for U.S.-Israel Relations. . George W. Ball should be read by all who think there will be peace in this region.

Paul Mino's Islam is not the same as the Islam of 1400 plus years where Jews throughout the Islamic empire lived in peace from Spain to Turkey. How come they were not slaughtered by the muslims? Is it because you are willing to quote something out of ignorance of its meaning or plain disguised Islamophobe.

Not even during the Ottomon empire when the Jews were causing lot of turmoil for the empire were they slaughtered, I wonder why.

    Dear Pali Mino,

Here are just a few of the Jew Talmud rules towards non-Jews:

    "All gentile children are animals."

"Jews are human beings ; the other peoples of the world are not human beings, but beasts."

"Non-Jews prefer do sex with cows."

(Gittin 57a.) Says Jesus is being boiled in hot excrement.

Jewish names for the blessed Mary in Talmud: A prostitute, and an adulterer.

"Jews must destroy the books of the Christians, i.e. the New Testament."

"Destroy all of the land ; beat down their pillars and break their statues and waste all of their high places, cleaning the land and dwelling in it, for I have given in to you a possession"

"When a Jew murders a gentile, there will be no death penalty. What a Jew steals from a cuthean (gentile) he may keep."

"Jews may use subterfuges (lies) to circumvent a Gentile."

"The gentiles are outside the protection of the the law and God has exposed their money to Israel." [ Remember this when you seek the advice of Jewish lawyer ]

The hadith you mentioned is not an instruction but a prophecy that's sure to happen on Prophet Jesus's ( a.s. ) advent to help the weak and the oppressed. The question now is "Who is the oppressor and the oppressed in today's world ?" Are they not the Muslims, particularly the Palestinians? Are the Zionist-Christendom alliance, not strong as evidenced by the weaponary that they have, which can destroy the world many times over? Miracles are not strange to Prophet Jesus (a.s) so to have the rocks and the trees speaking is not farfetched!

  10. Pali Mino from USA

Why in the world would a Jew want to make peace with a Muslim, when Islam tells Muslims to kill Jews? Do you think the Jews don't know this? They aren't ignorant of Islam.

You shall fight against those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His messenger have prohibited, nor do they abide by the religion of truth - among those who received the scripture - until they pay the due tax, willingly or unwillingly.

Those who reject (Truth - ie Islam), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures

    And, of course, this Hadith:

Hour [of Resurrection] will not arrive until you fight the Jews and the rock and the tree will say: O Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!'

  11. aaron from UK

Strangely some people can be immuned to the 'persistent' Israeli Occupation Forces' aggression through the policy of execution, assassination and destruction but suddenly they become thin-skinned when it comes to the 'once in a blue moon' bombings by the Palestinians which strictly happened as a retaliation to the crimes inflcted upon them by the mafias who broke the international conventions and charters in the first place. So illogic!... despite their claim of speaking by logic...

There are video clips of Palestinians bombings which actually destroyed legitimate military targets but it never make it to the mainstream media outlets. What's reported in the mainstream media sources is "Children and civillians killed"???

  12. raihan from US

believe me, many are far to bent on their own hatred to be moved by this. - wow! Uncle Logic! You must have lived alongside the Palestinians in the filthy slums with no running water, with barely enough food to sustain! Otherwise you couldn't have made such a definite claim! Did you know that most Palestinians actually want peace? And even if they don't, for argument's sake, can you blame them after all that they have been through? Maybe, one day someone will come at your doorstep, and throw you out of your comfy couch and take over your home and your livelihood. I would like to see how you or Ramesh or those who pledged their unconditional loyalty (for prejudice or whatever other reasons) to Israel, behave then!

"misdeeds of the Israelis are being over emphasised" - Sure! It is easy for you to claim that sitting in your comfy couch! You don't have to live your life in fear everyday, in fear of either being bombed or buried alive in your own house! 4,000 Palestinian men, women, and children were killed in one day in a refugee camp by Israelis. Over-emphasized, ha!? Then again I might be "bloody confused", right?

And did you ever hear the sermons of many of the Rabbies? You need to! They want all the PAlestinians to die! "We shall inherit it all for we can!" - that was one of the sermons I listened to!

Just like you don't publish positive comments since everyone else already does that, iView does not need to publish article that talks about atrocities committed in Muslim countries since there is a whole world full of people doing that for it. And I am confused again. This article equally condemns the Israeli atrocities and Palestinian atrocities! So, what is the problem?

    I hope not prejudice!

    Take care!

  13. Peace from USA

By naming the crimes commited by dictators like Sadam of Iraq who were supported and funded by the west. One can dismiss a reality (Isreal's Occupation). Needless to say that the same atrocities has been committed by the west not too long ago in Vietnam, Germany, Heroshima and the recent Shock and Owe in Iraq.

There is eneough blame to go around but it will not change the course of history despite anyones wishes and the future doesn't lack those willing to wage more wars.

Yet history it seems is written by the winners not the victims.

  14. Kris from usa

The article is good and is much appreciated. Has not done the analysis of the situation. If human deviates an inch from the God's Commands, it will effect them. This needs to be understood clearly. Both by Jews and Muslims and also Christianity. Gods Commands are the laws humans have to follow, if anyone deviates from it the results will matter to them. One cannot expects Not to follow Gods command and assume that everything will be ok? I think Christianity is moving in the right direction because its followers are keen and sincere (the main requirements for guidens), I hope they get the truth sooner the better. They have to go back to Vatican's flaws in history and now. Get the archives unarchived. Both Islam and Christianity are waiting for the second coming of Jesus.

  15. Uncle Logic from UK

Well i think romesh is right, especially about the author being naive. He writes: "How can the Palestinian Question be resolved?" And then goes on to say: "Israel must immediately withdraw from all the territories it occupied during the 1967 war including East Jerusalem."

Has he any idea how many homicides and fanatics there are in Palestine, if we were to let hundreds of thousands back into Jerusalem it would cause the violence to escalate uncontrollably, sure some Palestinians would be moved by this act of kindness but believe me, many are far to bent on their own hatred to be moved by this. If they were to do this, they should evacuate all Israeli civilians first. I think we'd end up seeing another the next Berlin wall if the Palestinians were to be let back in.

And I also think the misdeeds of the Israelis are being over emphasised by Islamicity etc, how about putting a little more emphasis on how the Syrians killed 25,000 of their own people in a single massacre, or how badly they treated the Lebanese, or how Saddam Hussain killed a million people, or the 10,000 terrorist attacks since 9/11, or how the Sudanese government has killed over 300,000 black Africans in Darfour since 2004, that's what I call racism and genocide not the Israeli conflict. It's because the site obviously thinks that a non Muslim killing a Muslim is far worse than a Muslim killing another Muslim.

Here is you again with your one-sided logic:

"The author is quite naive looking for Peace between Israelis and Palestinians when Palestinians are bent on sending suicide bombers"

You make no mention of the millions whose lives have been shattered by this stupid occupation over 60 years. Obviously you do not wish to read the stats I provided you at this link:

Ottomans did not conquer on premise of having religious right to the land and did not drive the population out of their homes. Ashkenazim Jews under the moto of Zionists did that and are doing the damage. You have no sympathy for the victim, so what is your point? Pro Zionist?

The Zionists had this motto: "Land without people for people without land". Both ends of this equation was false but they sold it to the Wet and through guilt to this day the west is held captive and your tax dollars continue to pay for this injustice. You are trying to justify that but forget to understand that when a victim's right is totally denied then he resorts to whatever form of warfare to inflict damage on to his opponent.

I pray you and no other person find themselves in such a situation. But our life is fleeting. The situation is never the same. The shoe will be in the other foot. No system stands the test of time, especially one built on humiliating another.

btw. The writer is highly respected even if you do not like what he writes. What you write speaks volum about you.

Israel is the greatest failure in the modern history. It is the greatest hub of the loot. It is running based upon grants and charity. It is the greatest begger society in the world. In 60 years, with all the modern tricks, it has declared the greatest modern day failure state. It is founded by thugs, functioning by liars. It is backed by 30 trillion dollars of economies of Europe and America, but has failed to acheive the minimum peace. What a sham?

According to Uri Aveney, the Ex-Knesset member of Israel has wonderfully put "make peace with Arabs while you are stong, before the wheels start turning". Today, after the massive defeat of America in Iraq, Israel's defeat at the hands of Hezbollah, Israelies should realize that it is in their interest to make peace before the wheels start turning around.

Once the tyranny of Muslim governments falls apart, the end of Israel is immminent. Muslim masses will just run over Israel.

By the way, Jesus (as) will support the poor, weak and the needy, not those thugs who possess thousands of nuclear weapons. There is a great condradiction here.

  21. nizam from India

This invitation will not work unless and until muslims recapture their land and subdue the jews and christians. After that this type of invitation will be accepted by the people of the book. As long as they have the upper hand, inviting for peace is ridiculous. So first muslim should get united and try to regain their glorius past and only then muslims will be counted. In the history of mankind, there is not a single instance where oppressor has listend to the opporessed, expecting that now is foolish. Instead of being divided all the muslim countries should form a caliphate and then every country on the face of the earth will come in knees. Muslim can then advice for the good, till then we have to fight, whatever way possible.

The author writes the palestinian terrorist, how long one can tolerate the torture that palestinian suffer? I would think that these poor palestinian, who sacrifice their life for just reason are freedom fighters. You can label them terrorist or whatever term u may devise, but they r nothing but freedom fighter. May Allah bless them and give them strength so that they stop only after the full stop of aggression by israel and west.

  22. Romesh Chander from USA

The author writes "The conflict between Israel and Palestine has taken on the identity of a 'religious war' between Jews and Muslims".

Yes, the conflict is religious and has been religious for the last 110 years or so. What would have happended if a few million Muslims from Turkey (or elsewhere) had moved to Palestine (by force or otherwise) and kicked out Palestinians, just like the Jews did?. What would have Palestinians and other Arab countries had done? Start a Jihad against Turkey, fight several wars and start Intifada? I doubt it. One must remember, Turkey captured Palestine and Syria very easily, and nobody opposed them for how long (at least 100 years). Remember, for Turks, Palestine in relity did not exist. Ottomans had divided 'Palestine' into 2 administrative districts. Western part was managed from Beirut and Eastern part from Damascus except Jerusalem was managed directly from Istambul (because of pressure from Christian powers, mostly Russia, UK, and France). Why did Arabs and palestinians not fight Turks? Because they were fellow co-religionists (muslims). Palestinians did not fight for liberation from Ottomans. Yes, it is a religious conflict and it is hypocritical not to acknowledge it; you cannot fool people all the time. Non-muslims do read muslim history. Would Arabs deny this part of the history?.

The author is quite naive looking for Peace between Israelis and Palestinians when Palestinians are bent on sending suicide bombers and Intifada into Israel and Hamas charter calls for destruction of Israel. Don't except love and flowers from Jews (no matter what Torah says or Koran says or even Bible says).

And this naivity is the one which does not impress non-muslims whose support Palestinians are looking for. Get real.
