HHRD Announces Disaster Relief Preparations for Nepal

KATHMANDU, Nepal - Sept. 2026

Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) is activating its Emergency Relief and Disaster Management (ERDM) teams as Nepal faces extensive destruction.

On August 26, a catastrophic flood struck northern Nepal after a glacier collapse sent torrents of water, ice, rock, and mud through the Trishuli River, according to global news outlets. Preliminary reports indicate that at least 1,000 people have been killed and thousands more remain unaccounted for. Homes, roads, bridges, and critical infrastructure have been swept away, cutting off access to affected communities.

In accordance with HHRD protocols, the office in Nepal has been put on alert. Ground assessments are underway to determine priority needs and access constraints. Central departmental oversight is coordinating communication, supply planning, and resource deployment.
