The state funeral procession for the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei began on July 4, and he will be laid to rest on July 9.
The procession will pass through several cities across two countries. The selected cities reflect the religious, political, and ideological foundations of the Islamic Republic.
Apart from the capital, Tehran, the cities of Qom, Karbala, Najaf, and Mashhad-which hold great significance among Shias-have been specifically chosen for the procession. Ali Khamenei's body was placed at Tehran's Grand Mosalla on July 4 for public viewing.
